I went to the dermatologist just last week, and he gave me an injection in the back of my hand to do a biopsy of something there, and he said, "Let's give that a minute to work" and went to the other side of the exam table to get his stuff. Then he walked right back and started cutting, and I didn't feel a thing. I couldn't believe it. It took less time than I've already spent typing on this comment. (Anesthetic for a deeper wound might take a little longer, but I think their conversation is long enough.)
I feel a bit bad for John and Sherlock that they'll never know the truth! But Sherlock couldn't handle the truth, and John seems highly averse to it here.
It's nice to see John getting to catch up a little with an old friend. I'd wish that they got together for lunch after it was all over, but, knowing John and Sherlock, there probably isn't any point even in wishing.
I keep thinking that Sherlock is going to be hopping mad that he can't figure out, nor will Harry tell him, how Dresden manages to do the things he does.
