Hurt/Comfort Meme

Because we all love torturing our characters, right?

Leave me a comment with a fandom, characters or pairing (platonic or un), and number from the list below. I will write you a short fic, excerpt of fic or description of fic.

The prompts are a bit vague, so feel free to be more specific about what sort of horridness has occurred, or severity of horridness, or which character you prefer the horridness to have happened to, or any other thing you want to add. I usually shy away from angst as much as possible, but, due to the nature of some of the prompts, there may be angst there. I will do my best to end on a happy, or at least hopeful, note.

All fandoms I've written for before are open. Feel free to request OCs or crossovers if you wish.

1. Injury
2. Illness
3. Grief
4. Loss of Sense (sight, hearing, etc.)
5. Sleep disturbance
6. Guilt
7. Exhaustion

Part the Second

Over the next hour, Bruce had Jarvis locate the nearest freshwater stream, and used the broken visor to collect some water for Tony wash his mouth out with, and hydrate him a bit. He threw up three more times. He never shut up in between, his conversation ranging from invention ideas, to deliriums about mermaids, to an excited explanation of a science project that Bruce suspect he thought he was giving to his father. Bruce used some of the water to try to cool him down, but there wasn't much to be done except keep him talking and hope for the best.

Finally, Natasha's voice came through the helmet. “Stark? Come in. Please respond. Banner?”

“That's real, right?” Tony asked. “There's a hot girl talking to me?”

“We're here, Tash,” Bruce said. “We need a--”

Fwoosh! Thor landed on the ground nearby, ruffling the leaves in the trees.

“Hey babe, looking good,” Tony said.

Thor frowned, but seemed to go with it. “Thank you,” he said, seriously.

“He has what you had last week,” Bruce explained.

Thor looked horrified. “That is a foul illness,” he declared. “Are you hurt, Dr. Banner?”

“I'm fine,” Bruce said. “Tony needs some fluids, though--and maybe a CT scan.”

“Hey,” Tony mumbled. “I'm not the one running around naked. Who's really insane, here?”

Bruce grinned. Thor took off again to convey their coordinates to the quinjet. Tony made an accompanying 'whoosh' noise to go with him. The quinjet landed, and Tony and Bruce were brought safely aboard. There was enough First Aid equipment for Bruce to get an IV going in Tony's neck.

“That is gross,” Tony said. “Someone take a picture, this is going on Facebook.”

They flew to the nearest rendezvous point, where they unloaded Tony and received a stern lecture from Steve about safety, and communication, and not being stupid and trying to be a hero.

“Love you, too,” Tony mumbled.

Steve glared at him. “Next time,” he said. “Just take a sick day.”

Go Bruce! At least one of them has some sense. We knew it wouldn't be Tony (and Thor's help only goes so far).

not being stupid and trying to be a hero
Lots of luck with that, Steve!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I rather like Bruce's POV. You've probably noticed my affinity for medical personnal. :-)

*smart salute to Super Beta* I can't edit comments once they've been replied to, but if I repost it anywhere, I'll fix it up. :-D

Ugh, manners fail. In thanking you, above, I forgot to add that I totally enjoyed it. I'm delighted by the mental image of a recently de-Hulked Bruce in a cocktail dress. And Tony greeting Thor with 'Hey babe, looking good' and Thor just rolling with it? Ahahaha. Right you are, Thor. Accept that praise as your due.

No worries! I assumed you wouldn't have thanked me if you didn't like the story. :-D But thanks very much for the added comment. I'm glad you liked it! It was a great prompt. :-)

I love this (have a soft spot for Tony & Bruce fics of any nature) but I think my favourite line has to be Thor's horrified "That is a foul illness," which made me grin like a loon.

I love the Science Bros myself. I just think Bruce and Tony have a great frantic vs almost lethargic dynamic that makes them fun to write. I'm glad you enjoyed the story!
