I knew Casino Royale was really violent, and that was a major factor in skipping Skyfall. I'll tell BH I just want to see Skyfall. And he'll tell me that CR is important for S or something.

CR is violent in a very specific way. It's the sort of violence of two people fighting where they both know they'll be dead if the other one wins. It's desperate, ungentlemanly, wailing at each other to live, violence. It's sort of brutal. Skyfall's violence and action comes from set pieces. There's a lot of running around urgently, but less hand-to-hand combat, and what there is is in shadow or cut away frequently to the POV of a different character. Aside from the villain's monologues being verbally disturbing, the only really, big, actiony violence comes within the last half hour or so, and a shorter shoot-out about half an hour before that. The former is set at night, so a lot of it is in shadow, too.

I don't remember much about QoS, but I think it was about in the middle, less violent than CR but more violent than SF.

Just in case that helps you make a decision.

Yes, intense violence really bothers me sometimes. I don't always know what's going to affect me.

^This. This is exactly my problem. I don't know what's going to affect me. I made it through Sin City, which is non-stop, wall-to-wall violence no problem, and had to stop Glory because someone was having their leg amputated off-screen. I know one of my triggers is suffering. Quick deaths are fine, people in pain is not always fine. I also don't like to be scared, so horror movies are out.

There is a parent's guide (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1074638/parentalguide?ref_=tt_ql_7) for most movies at IMDB, which list scene by scene what to expect. I don't know if that will help or not. Sometimes reading it can make it seem worse than it is.
