When reading this verse, I’m immersed immediately and always seem to forget that Trevelyan isn’t a canon character and only exists in this AU, and little moments like this make me long for him in canon.
Thank you! That is a lovely comment to receive. It makes me feel a little less weird about how much effort I put into fleshing out my AUs. :-)
That way Sherlock could have some backup who is younger than him and looks up to him and feels solidarity with him and can joke about gypsies in moments of stress.
That's actually one of the reasons I feel compelled to write Q's point of view on what's going on in the series; I like playing around with how things might be different if there was another brother, one who Sherlock might have to keep in mind when he's considering options, or who might give him a greater perspective on what Mycroft goes through each time he gets himself into situations.
I wonder what of his father’s Sherlock chose to keep in the end; I can’t remember if it was mentioned before.
Sherlock took ownership of the bottle cap collection, because he discovered its existence, and so he feels like it's a sort of secret he shares with his father. He also has Siger's signet ring, the one mentioned in 'Acceptably Close to Love'. It has 'ESH' on it, so part of his initials. He wears it for cases sometimes, as part of adding a bit here and there to play a character. I picture it as being very similar to Benedict's signet ring that he wears in real life, worn on his pinkie finger. None of this is mentioned anywhere, it's just my own headcanon. I did try to come up with something I could link to the appearance of the character on the show, but Sherlock doesn't accessorize, so I didn't have anything as noticeable as Mycroft's pocket watch and ring, or Q's cufflinks.
