He's like the Messiah of magic and yet he's this completely gawky dorky teen. It's so fitting his daemon would be as unassuming as a duck.

I kind of liked the idea that the druids would be waiting for Emrys and his fiercesome daemon, and then Merlin and his little duck waddle in all 'hullo! I'm the Chosen One'.
