I love this story because we don’t often get to see characters recovering from trauma so much as receiving it, and there is a lot to work through both mentally and physically. Especially with where John was shot—I’ve had abdominal surgery and know how it affects everything you do; standing up straight was out of the question, but coughing, laughing, and especially sneezing were the absolute worst.

John had literally seen them startle one another, as though they were surprised the other was there.

Poor Sherlock! I love how he’s always saying he’s “just passing by” repeatedly. I agree with Subira, John getting injured definitely scared him.
