There was a reddit post talking about a historical Chinese figure, who I can't remember now, and someone linked a Cdrama about them and I watched a bit on YouTube and that had the character intros in it, but I didn't know it was something all Cdramas did until I watched Miss S and realized they were doing the same thing. I'm sure it's helpful; I know a lot of shows over here with a ton of characters would benefit from telling you their names when they arrived on screen!

I'm pretty good with languages, but I have to confess that Chinese is very hard for me to make heads or tails of listening to. I've watched shows in Italian and managed to start to pick up certain words as they were repeated and I speak enough French to only need the subtitles for guidance when I watch something in that language, but aside from 'thank you' and the honorific meaning 'miss/young lady', I know as much as when I started watching. But it's fun, as you said, to experience something different from the kind of culture you normally engage in.
