Things that are happening now...

- I have hurt my back. It is very painful. I do not know how I did it. I suspect it's some sort of vicious writing injury.
- My big story is all beta'd up now by my awesome beta. I'm sure this happens to everyone who looks at something too long, but I've got to the point where I've read through it so many times, I can't tell if it's okay any more. I mean, I know it must be, but it's like when you stare at something until your eyes lose focus. It's all just words, now! But I'm one step closer to posting and very excited!
- There is a sudden influx of people fav'ing my stories on ff.net. Which is awesome! But hardly any comments. Some people have fav'd me, followed me, fav'd and followed every one of my stories and not left a single comment. I'm thrilled anyone's reading them at all, to be honest, but a quick 'hey, I like this' would be spiffy. I understand if you're just passing through, but if you can spend two hours reading and fav'ing, you have time to leave a comment.

G'luck to Benedict Cumberbatch at the Golden Globes tonight! I'll be watching Once Upon a Time and Dowton Abbey, but I'm sure I'll see every micro second he's on screen on Tumblr.

ETA: note to self: never assume it is safe to go to tumblr after Benedict Cumberbatch has failed to win an award. Do you hear that? That is the sound of a million fan girls weeping and beating their chests. Just going to hide quietly until the outrage dies down...

Sorry about your back! *sends donuts and a heating pad*

I almost never comment on ff.net. Not sure why but my ratio of reading to comments is probably 100/1 there. AO3 it's a little better, maybe 50/1 and LJ is the highest, maybe 25/1. It depends. Maybe it's the format or whatever, but I rarely, rarely ever comment there and I have seen a lot of people do the same.

Thanks! The heating pad has done wonders, actually. I tried ice, but the heat was what really helped. At least I can move without feeling like I'm going to die, now!

That's interesting, because I get most of my comments on ff.net, a decent amount on LJ and very few on AO3. I imagine it's what your demographics are that makes the difference. I don't write pairings or smut, so that limits who reads and ff.netters seem to be a more gen-friendly group than elsewhere. The last story I posted there has 22 comments, whereas here I got five or six and none at AO3.

I know I don't comment as much as I should myself, but I just like to know what it is about the story that made someone want to favourite it. It's like people who rec your stories but don't tell you they're reccing them. I appreciate it a lot, but I'd love to know what I'm doing right! :p

I'm sorry that your back is giving you trouble!

(Psst: it's more than okay.)

Thanks! I'm feeling a bit better now. Heating pads are lovely. And thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm just slightly snow blind at this point, I think. :-)

I wish you and your back a speedy recovery. It looks like you've already found a good remedy which is heating pads.

I've not watched an awards show in about three years now. I did think I heard some sort of far off sobbing but I thought that was just my neighbors crying. Must be the Cumberbatch fans.

Thanks, babe! It's a bit better today. Heating pads really are lovely. :-D

I was just going to take quick look in the Cumberbatch tag to see if he'd attended and if there were any red carpet interviews or gifs up yet and it's suddenly people swearing revenge and people yelling at people swearing revenge and everyone swearing that Cumberbatch had tears in his eyes when he lost and, OMG, I think he'll survive. He is a grown man who has lost every award he's ever been up for, I don't think one Golden Globe is going to push him over the edge.

I hope someone is studying the psychology of tumblr, because it is fascinating. Fascinating and terrifying and infuriating.

sympathies and commisserations to you; i hope you feel better soon.

you just rest and relax, okay?

Oh no! I hope your back keeps feeling better. Injuries like that suck.

note to self: never assume it is safe to go to tumblr after Benedict Cumberbatch has failed to win an award

I am starting to think Benedict Cumberbatch and Leonardo DiCaprio should get together after award ceremonies and have commiseration parties. The whole thing's veering dangerously close to meme-worthy territory!

I know! Poor fellows. I don't particularly care for Leo as an actor, but it must be really annoying to never win. You must feel like you're never good enough. Still, I really don't think it's about the awards for them. I'm sure it really is an honour just to be recognized and good for one's career. Any chance where the world can see you is good for getting jobs, I would think.

According to sources, Cumberbatch spent all night dancing, so I don't think he was too cut up.

ETA: did you get the reply I sent to your reply to my accidental PM? LJ is being fuckin' nuts tonight and can't figure out of anything is going through.
