"I'm working on the body first."

I have yet to see the new X-men movie, and it will likely be quite awhile before I do, but in the meantime, here is an adorable interview clip of the Magnetos and Xaviers young and old doing impressions of one another:

I have to say, Fassbender's McKellan is pretty spot on.

I love the reactions of Stewart and McKellan at hearing the impressions. They are the coolest of the cool men.

I like to think this is what Hiddleston and Cumberbatch will be like in thirty odd years or so. Total badass best friends. Though I think McAvoy and Fassbender are on their way there, too. In fact, all four of them seem to get on pretty well. UK actor mafia for the win!

[identity profile] joonscribble.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hiddleston and Cumberbatch would totally be the outwardly calm, gentlemanly but secretly crazy and 7 year olds on crack best friends.

McAvoy and Fassbender would be the very much not secretly crazy and 7 year olds on crack best friends.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! This is true! Cumberbatch and Hiddlesotn get ten times more gentlemanly when they are together, and McAvoy and Fassbender are just terrible influences on one another. Perhaps they should come to our tea party and learn how to behave themselves. :-D

This tea party would have to move to the seaside because clearly Fassbender's animal would be a shark.

Yes, this 100% true. I was wondering how we were going to accommodate him. But I don't think our British gentlemen would mind too much having a nice picnic at the beach. It's probably good for faun!Whishaw to get out of his cottage once in a while, and otter!Batch could have a bit of a swim.

For some reason 'Beaver' jumped to mind for McAvoy, so maybe he could invite everyone back to the water for the party.

He'd still bring a book to read while everyone else goes frolicking but that's just his way.

There have already been a bunch of animal!AUs where Erik is almost always a shark. Charles has been a cat, a dolphin, or a rat (thanks to the lab rat comment). Fan artists have already been pretty productive on that front:

palalife also did one of Charles and Erik as a cat and dog, respectively which is pretty damn cute: http://palalife.tumblr.com/image/36191955676

Yes, and sit under the umbrella because he burns so easily. Hiddleston would probably keep him company, and play his guitar or something. Otter!batch would play frisbee.

Oh fandoms, never change. I love how no matter how weird I get, there is always someone out there who is just as weird, if not weirder as me.

I like the cat idea. Maybe a little munchkin (http://images1.adsinontario.com/nlarge/munchkin-kittens-and-cats_3548463.jpg) cat.

Yup. That's the marvelous thing about fandom: there is always someone who has taken it to the next level.

I realized just now that I'm conflating Charles with James McAvoy in terms of his animal (I'm thinking about this way too much). That munchkin cat is kind of perfect though, still. You find the best animals!

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
(I'm thinking about this way too much).

You and me both, babe.

You find the best animals!

Thank you! It's all the time I spend looking for daemons, I have an encylopaedic knowledge of weird animals and their traits. Useless knowledge is my superpower. Maybe kitty!Charles could come to the tea part with Loki, Q, and Sherlock. Because Sherlock would love someone who can read his mind.

[identity profile] joonscribble.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Sherlock would love someone who can read his mind.

I can't decide if Charles would find Sherlock's mind palace impressive or a little depressing. I guess it would depend on which era Charles we're talking about. 60s Charles would probably be impressed. 70s Charles would find it boring. Current!Charles would just be zen and accepting of anything he finds in there.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, 60's Charles would definitely find Sherlock's mind very groovy.

And current!Charles would make Loki sit down and talk his feelings out, because that poor boy has some issues.

[identity profile] joonscribble.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure there's some Marvel comic somewhere that takes place in some universe where this question gets answered but I wonder if Charles can control the minds of gods(aliens) like Loki and Thor. Or at least talk to them telepathically the way he can with humans and other mutants.

This also makes me wonder if Erik can lift Mjolnir with his powers.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Hmmm, well Xavier does run off with some alien chick at some point, but I can't remember if he can read her mind or not. It was back in the day, when it turned out Cyclops' dad hadn't died, just got picked up by some aliens and was now saving the universe with them, no big deal. And Xavier got a hover!bumper car!wheelchair.

Damn, that's a good question! I'd say no, since not even the forklift or whatever could pick it up. I'd say it's probably immune to outside influences in addition to direct picking up. It seems to be a bit self-aware. And I don't think Erik is very worthy. As far as I know, it's only ever been Steve who could pick it up, besides Thor.

I can see Erik trying so hard to do it that he's bending literally every piece of metal around him, and the Mjolnir's just like, 'lol, no'.

Oh, really? I didn't even know that. Is that a comics thing or an Avengers thing that I completely missed?

Mjolnir would probably add insult to injury by having Erik accidentally faceplant himself trying to pull the hammer toward him.

No, no, just the comics, I think. Here's (http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11/118864/2562927-captain_america_mjolnir.jpg) one image. I don't think film!Steve has done it, but I think it would be hilarious for him to do it really casually, like 'oh, I should move that someone will trip on it', and everyone just being '0_0'

He'd probably just be so confident he could move it, he would wave his hand and accidentally fly toward it instead of the reverse.

Hahaha! Both Loki and Thor would be so pissed. Get on that, Age of Ultron.

James McAvoy was asked the question if the Avengers went against the X-Men who would win. The obvious answer is the X-Men considering Charles could make them all sit down and take a nap with his mind and Erik would very easily put Iron Man out of commission.

Perhaps Mjolnir would just fly around and knock everyone out since no one can stop it.

Aww, I'm picturing the Hulk all curled up in a ball asleep with his thumb in his mouth, having happy dreams about smashing things.

The trick perhaps would be to throw it right away, and knock Charles out with it, since Erik wouldn't be able to stop it. Then, of course, you haven't deal with the fact that there are 50,000 X-men who all do different things, which would be a lot of people to stop, and you'd have to suss out who does what and how to make them not do it any more.

Banner and the Hulk could probably do with a Charles-induced happy dreams nap.

I don't know how it would work but I like the idea of JARVIS and Mjolnir somehow working in tandem to save the Avengers somehow. If anything because I want everyone to wake up from their nap to JARVIS saying everything's been taken care of with Mjolnir silently preening next to Thor.

HA, HA, HA!

Hawkeye: Is it just me or does that hammer look smug?

Heeheehee!! Thor would be smiling proudly while everyone else is o_O.

Hee!

*Thor and Mjolnir fist-bump*
Everyone else: ....
Tony: So, who wants pie? C'mon, we'll buy some mead for Mew-Mew or something.

HAHAHA! Mew-Mew! Oh, Tony. Never change.

I need to rewatch the Avengers for fic research purposes. Or rather so I can recall what Tony and Steve sound like when they're talking to each other. Or at each other.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2014-05-30 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they sort of sound like:

Tony: *snark, snark, snarky snark*
Steve: *earnest, serious, disapproving, surprise snark*

Yup, that sounds like it in a nutshell. Poor Steve. He's so respectful of so many things and Tony just is SO NOT. I wonder if they ever talk at all (I know they don't in the film but just in general) about Steve having worked with Howard.
