Insert vaguely amusing meme related joke here...

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble.

Pick a fandom you know I know about, and I’ll tell you:

(Even if you aren't certain I know a fandom, you can go ahead and try it. I will let you know if I am not familiar with it.)

1. The character most likely to fall in love with the wrong person
2. The character whom I'm embarrassed to admit I adore
3. The character that would send me screaming in the opposite direction IRL despite being fascinating in fiction.
4. The character with the most annoying personality quirks
5. The character I most admire and why
6. The character with the worst temper
7. The character most likely to fail at everything
8. The pairings I prefer in canon
9. The pairings I prefer in fanon
10. The character with the most personal growth in canon

I'm on a little bit of a Firefly kick, so how about Firefly?

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'm always on a Firefly kick. ;-):

1. The character most likely to fall in love with the wrong person
I'm going to go with Kaylee on this one. While I think that Mal and Inara are more likely to get themselves in relationships that aren't healthy, I don't think either of them are inclined to actually fall in love. Whereas Kaylee is open-minded and trusting and I think she'd be likely to have her heartbroken by some bastard she trusted.

2. The character whom I'm embarrassed to admit I adore
I don't know if I'm embarrassed to admit I like any of them, but I don't suppose I'm really supposed to adore the Operative, am I?

3. The character that would send me screaming in the opposite direction IRL despite being fascinating in fiction.
Again, the Operative. Awesome and interesting, but scary as all hell if he was actually chasing you.

4. The character with the most annoying personality quirks
There are times when I just want Book to stop trying to be mysterious and preachy and just do something.

5. The character I most admire and why
I think Simon. He gave up everything to help River out and had lots of opportunities to just give up or abandon her and didn't. I am also slightly partial to him because he reminds me of mybig brother. :-)

6. The character with the worst temper
Mal. I think Mal maybe doesn't lose his temper as often as Jayne, who is sort of perpetually angry, but you, really, really don't want to piss Mal off.

7. The character most likely to fail at everything
Well, the whole crew sort of seems destined to never succeed, but I'd say Jayne is the one who is most often thwarted in his ambitions.

8. The pairings I prefer in canon
Kaylee/Simon, Zoe/Wash

9. The pairings I prefer in fanon
Mal/River (an older River, not a teenage River)

10. The character with the most personal growth in canon
I don't know if anyone has really 'grown'. Maybe if the show had more time to run. I think Simon comes the closest. By Serenity, he's more relaxed, confident, less obnoxious and a bit more capable in the fighting area. Plus, he's a bit less hopeless around Kaylee. :-)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-16 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
1. I definitely agree.

2. LOL! Um, I think not.

6. Huh--I hadn't looked at it that way, but yeah, Mal is definitely the worse of the two if you piss him off.

10. Yeah. They just didn't have enough time, dammit.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess River has grown from Serenity the pilot to Serenity the movie, but I think of that as more of her rediscovering what was already there rather than changing herself. She's gotten rid of some of the crazy, so now we can see a bit of what's under the crazy. Though, I really don't think all the crazy is gone nor that the Alliance is about to leave her alone for good.

What about Due South?

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
1. The character most likely to fall in love with the wrong person
Fraser, obviously. Because he did, with Victoria.

2. The character whom I'm embarrassed to admit I adore
I think adore and embarassed are strong words, but I do always like it when the FBI shows up. Especially that one who calls Thatcher 'sweetheart'. :-)

3. The character that would send me screaming in the opposite direction IRL despite being fascinating in fiction.
Geez. I don't know. Everyone's pretty loveable on the show. I suppose I would be fairly freaked if Fraser Sr. started to talk to me.

4. The character with the most annoying personality quirks
Fraser. I love the guy, but sometimes I'm on the Rays' side: he's just too perfect. There is a wrong time for neatness, Fraser, and it's when you are on a sinking ship. Also: leaving hostages outside while you lock yourself in a vault? Stupid and dangerous.

5. The character I most admire and why
I think Lt. Welsh. He's always calm, always supports his people and always has absolute control of the situation. He's a good boss.

6. The character with the worst temper
RayV, probably. He did supposedly go 'crazy' on that dead guy they found in the wall at the police station and went pretty nuts on Zuko.

7. The character most likely to fail at everything
Francesca, poor girl. She just can't seem to get anything done right.

8. The pairings I prefer in canon
There aren't really a lot of canon pairings. I like Stella/RayK, I guess.

9. The pairings I prefer in fanon
I honestly haven't read a lot of due South fanfiction. I've seen some nice Fraser/Elaine stuff, though. I know there's vast amounts of Ray/Fraser stuff, but I don't slash in general.

10. The character with the most personal growth in canon
I guess Fraser, if you look at him in the Pilot vs. Call of the Wild. He's a bit more street smart, a bit more willing to tease and a bit more able to cope with city life.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
aww, the Lt. I always liked him, from the quiet moments when he's admiring the mounties on horseback to those times he looks like his brain is going to explode from the stress of it all...

(I don't slash either)

This is based on season 1, I haven't been able to keep up with season 2 so far.

1. The character most likely to fall in love with the wrong person
I'd say Peter. He's a hopeless romantic and kind of naive. He'd end up in a very bad relationship, I think.

2. The character whom I'm embarrassed to admit I adore
Mohinder. He's boring and somewhat useless, but I love him.

3. The character that would send me screaming in the opposite direction IRL despite being fascinating in fiction.
Uh, Sylar, obviously. I like my brain in my head.

4. The character with the most annoying personality quirks
Jessica/Niki. Whether she's slutty bitch or a useless wimp, she annoys me. I would almost say Parkman, but it was his storyline that did nothing for me. Greg Grunberg I love and Parkman I have nothing against.

5. The character I most admire and why
Hiro. He's a dork, he's ridiculous, yet he's always positive, he's always cheerful and he's always ready to save the world.

6. The character with the worst temper
Sylar or Niki. Either way, you're totally dead.

7. The character most likely to fail at everything
Parkman. Lost your job, can't pass your detectives exam, lost your wife who is carrying your child and suck at being an FBI agent. Pretty much you lose.

8. The pairings I prefer in canon
Hmmm. I honestly don't know. Oh, I liked Charlie and Hiro. And Hiro and Ando as friends.

9. The pairings I prefer in fanon
I haven't read a lot of fanfiction for this fandom. I liked Peter/Claire before we found out they were related. After that it was just icky.

10. The character with the most personal growth in canon
HRG, all the way. From blind operative to the one bringing down the company is a major growth of character.

[identity profile] joonscribble.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Word on #2 and #7.

I love Mohinder for nothing other than that he's just....Mohinder. And kinda pretty. But overall? Useless.

Yeah, I definitely have a thing for Indian guys with pseudo-British accents. :-)

Doctor Who! And for the sake of time, different Doctors count as different characters ('cause Six? Yeah, definitely not Ten).

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not very up-to-date on my old school Who, so I'm going by the newer series:

1. The character most likely to fall in love with the wrong person
Rose. Because she did. And because, at least at the start of her journey, her self-esteem was quite low and I think she'd be inclined to fall for anyone showing her attention.

2. The character whom I'm embarrassed to admit I adore
I don't know if I'm embarassed, but I do adore Nancy. I loved Simon Pegg's 'Editor' too.

3. The character that would send me screaming in the opposite direction IRL despite being fascinating in fiction.
Hmm. I guess the Doctor, since people around him tend to get hurt. But then, if he was around, I'd probably want to stick near him to avoid the obvious alien invasion occurring.

4. The character with the most annoying personality quirks
As much as I love Mickey, his constant need for attention and his inability to let Rose go annoys me greatly. You are not a time traveling alien, Mickey. She's not going to stay home. Get over it.

5. The character I most admire and why
I really like Martha. She's more confident in herself than Rose, she's smart, she's not in denial about how much she likes the Doctor. The whole journey she went through in the last three episodes of Season 3 was amazing and she handled it so well.

6. The character with the worst temper
I think Nine is a bit more angry than Ten, though Ten is more likely to punish your ass for pissing him off. Nine is still in time war mode and Ten is more in mourning. So, I think the Doctor in general is someone you don't want to mess with.

7. The character most likely to fail at everything
Mickey. Poor Mickey. Though he does sort of get himself together near the end of Season 2.

8. The pairings I prefer in canon
Are there canon pairings? I guess Jackie/Pete and Rose/10 is fairly canon. I like Sparrow/Nightingale too.

9. The pairings I prefer in fanon
Rose/the Doctor, Jack/the Doctor

10. The character with the most personal growth in canon
As much as the Doctor as changed, that's more of an actor thing than a character thing. I think Jack has made a nice arc from conman to hero to the one left behind to leader.

Never be ashamed of loving any character that Simon Pegg does. Simon Pegg is adorable enough to destory any shame. And I cannot for the life of me remember who Nancy is... halp?

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2007-11-18 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
I just watched Hot Fuzz a couple of weeks ago and now I want to huggle him. :-)

Nancy was the girl in 'The Empty Child' and the 'The Doctor Dances'. The spunky one who was leading the group of children around.
