Daemon Meme
Reviving this because...reasons.
Give me the name of a character and I'll tell you the following about their daemon:
Animal:
Name:
Nickname:
Major Personality Traits:
How he/she sleeps:
How he/she travels with his/her human:
What he/she does when his/her human is at rest:
Favourite forms before he/she settled:
What his/her voice sounds like:
I can probably come up with a daemon if it's for a character I haven't yet given one to (if you can find one!). Feel free to ask for more than one character.

Animal: Eastern Screech Owl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_screech_owl#/media/File:EasternScreechOwl-Rufous.jpg) (Rufous morph)
Name: Verissima (Italian, meaning 'very true'). Generally goes by 'Sima', to such an extent that most people don't know she has a longer name.
Nickname: Sim. Emily and her daemon called her 'Simi!' very excitedly when learning to talk, and sometimes still call her that. Not as much, because Emily is a petulant teenager.
Major Personality Traits: Sim is an up-in-your-face, lack of personal space, kind of daemon. She's not quite as abrasive as Cal, but if she's trying to get information from you, she puffs herself up and gets right in there. Otherwise, she's quiet and thoughtful, and a bit charming, and very protective of those she cares about. Sometimes to a smothering degree.
How he/she sleeps: She perches on the headboard of Cal's bed. Sometimes dangerous, as she has, on occasion tumbled right off her perch and onto him if he's had a bit too much to drink. If there's a partner in bed, she either puts them under her wing, or sits on top of them, depending on size.
How he/she travels with his/her human: Sim rides his shoulder, and has the unsettling habit of keep her eye on things, turning her head the full 270 degrees as Cal continues to go about his business. Friends get used to it, but interns basically feel they're about to be fired at any moment. Sometimes she flies, which is no less unsettling as the silence of her wings makes her seem like she's just popping out at you from nowhere.
What he/she does when his/her human is at rest: Sim perches on the back of Cal's chair, and looks over his shoulder while he works. If he's analyzing or interrogating, she sits on his shoulder or a flat surface, and cocks her head around in a bobbing motion, listening and looking.
Favourite forms before he/she settled: Sim liked to be pouncy, slinky sort of cat when she was little. Margays were her favourite.
What his/her voice sounds like: Her South London accent is much thicker than Cal's, and hasn't faded from her time in America. Her voice has a pleasant purr to it, with a touch of grit.

This detail delights me for some reason.
Sim rides his shoulder, and has the unsettling habit of keep her eye on things, turning her head the full 270 degrees as Cal continues to go about his business.
This is such a good visual for what Cal does and how it unnerves people.
Awesome daemon!

Hee! It comes out of the fact that I didn't feel the colours and sounds of Verissima worked very well for Cal, but I could hear him calling her 'Sima' and 'Sim'. I had another name, Aletheya, which I felt suited the animal and colours better, but I didn't like the 'Cal and Al' feeling to it.
Sometimes synesthesia makes things really complicated.
This is such a good visual for what Cal does and how it unnerves people.
Tim Roth's tendency to act on angle as Cal, sloping to one side with his head, immediately made me think of an owl. There are a shed-load of owl species out there, though, so I took awhile to find one I liked.
Thanks for the prompt!
