82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
I like to have a plan, but when you are dealing with a medical emergency, you have to think on your feet. In everyday life, I am certainly more inclined to foreward think than to act on instinct.
1. What is your full name?
Darcy Josiah Forrester, MD and yes, I was named for Mr. Darcy. My mother has a Jane Austen fixation.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
bloody (as an Englishman should), phlebotomy (my favourite medical term), 'I'm fine' (to my wife, usually)
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Reading, seeing my wife for many hours at a time, sleeping for many hours at a time, playing the piano
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Good week: reading, spending time with my wife, playing the piano and sleeping. Bad week: up for many hours with a patient and eating standing up at the nurses station.
86. What is your greatest weakness?
My wife's chai.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
When many patients arrived with mysterious symptoms I couldn't put together and proceeded to die without any apparent cause, whereupon a man proclaiming to be a wizard arrived and informed me that they were being affected by black magic and there was nothing I could do to help them.
92. What are your reasons for being a doctor? (Note: question says 'adventurer', but Forrester isn't, so I've changed it to his profession)
I should say something inspiring about how I just want to help people or such nonsense, but, truthfully, I like to solve puzzles. Diagnostics was not my first choice of specialty, but ended up being more suited to my personality than surgery would have been. I do enjoy making people well, however. It strokes my ego.

70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Playing harmonica, spending time with my nephews and nieces (on the DL), walking my dog

Comics in the papers, stand up comedians, Dresden's excuses
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Pretty good. I'm still close with my brothers and sisters, so that says something I guess. My dad and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things still, but we've made our peace.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
Of course not. 11th grade, Sandy Cuccioli, who is now living in Norwood Park with her husband, 2.5 children and a cat.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Obnoxious, loud, hyper and, according to my mother, impossible.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Getting promoted to detective.
60. How close are you to your family?
As I said before, I see my siblings and their kids a lot. We do the whole family dinner thing often enough, when everyone's in town.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
On a date if I'm lucky - not dealing with Dresden if I'm luckier. Murphy gets her kid a lot of weekends so I try to cover so she doesn't have to come in.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Lt. Al Granger. He's dead now, but he was my first boss. He taught me how to be a good cop.
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
Murphy always has my back. I got hers too. It's symbiotic.

79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
At this point, nothing much shocks me, unless you mean literally shocks me. I could give you a long list of things that shock. Electric eels for example. I hate people who are abusive to women and children and I get offended when people assume Murphy's nuts 'cause she works with me.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
I think that would be 'killing my uncle with Black Magic'. It may have been unintentional, but he's still dead and I still did it.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Depends on who I'm conflicting with. I argue with Bob all the time, I argue with Murphy, I argue with Morgan. I avoid Ancient Mai like the plague, though, and I really don't go looking for trouble. Trouble finds me. Honest.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Watching my dad perform. Riding in the car to gigs. Causing trouble. Climbing trees. Finding ways to make Bob say 'Stars and Stones, Harry!'
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
I don't go blubbering to anyone about my problems, but I have to confess to being waaay more emotional than a guy should be. It's the magic, I swear. Magic comes from emotions and they have to be raw. I'm not really sure who my true self is, yet, but I think Bob and Murphy might know. I don't hide it from them.
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
My uncle. We don't need to get into why. Since he's dead, Morgan comes in a close second. If he could just stop being so damn righteous and listen for two seconds...
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
It was just me and my dad for the most part of growing up. He was a great guy. He was endlessly patient with me, hardworking and never hesitated to lend a hand to someone, even if it meant that he didn't eat that night or had to buy new shoes. Ebenenzar McCoy put my head on straight when I was a teenager, too and I have a lot of respect for him.
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
No TV, no computer, no radio and no television means reading is pretty much the only form of entertainment I have. I read whatever I can get my hands on. I like old books - ones with dedications in the front to the person who originally got it as a present. They have good energy. I once picked up one of Bob's trashy romance novels when I was desperately bored. Those things will haunt your dreams and not in a good way.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a magician like my dad. Except for that period where I wanted to be Spider-Man. Actually, I still want to be Spider-Man.
