Daemon Natterage (huzzah!)
Been awhile since my last daemon natter, so here's a double dose for two smaller fandoms, Inspector Lewis, and Skyfall.
Inspector Robbie Lewis -- Adala ['Addie'] (meaning 'to act justly') is a Bernese Mountain dog. Berners are gentle giants, and their breed standards call for them to be 'good-natured', 'self-assured', 'placid toward strangers' and 'docile'. They are very good with children, and are good with other animals and strangers. They do like a bit of exercise, but aren't built for endurance, though they had move very fast when the situation calls for it.
Inspector James Hathaway -- Ismini (meaning 'knowledge') is a mountain weasel. All animals in the mustela genus are very intelligent, and mountain weasels in particular are very solitary, but will chat with other weasels, and are able to swim and climb, and have excellent vision. Weasels have folkloric reputations of being associated with death and harbingers of bad omens.
Chief Superintendent Jean Innocent-- Torin (meaning 'chief') is a barn owl. Barn owls hunt by flying slowly and hovering over spots that conceal prey. They have excellent ears, and when they get angry, they bob from side to side and stare down the threat. They have sharps talons, and tear apart their prey. Owls in general are associated with wisdom, and death.
Dr. Laura Hobson -- Talaton ['Tal'] (meaning 'scales' [measuring ones]) is a white-headed capuchin monkey. Capuchins are considered to be the most intelligent of the New World monkeys, and have been used in labs, and they can be trained to help people with disabilities. They are very playful and social, and have been known to use tools.
James Bond -- Einara ['Nara'] (meaning 'lone warrior') is a bobcat. Bobcats are extremely adaptable, able to eat a wide variety of food and go for long periods without it. They hunt alone, and stalk and pounce on their prey, and vary their hunting techniques based on their quarry. They are very quiet, unless mating.
M (Olivia Mansfield) -- Kresimir (meaning 'to spark peace') is an orchid mantis. Orchid mantises resemble flowers, and stay still to lure their prey in, hiding in plain sight. They stand their ground when threatened, and don't attack unless forced to. They also are extremely aggressive protecting their young.
M (Gareth Mallory) -- Tassia (meaning 'silence') is a dhole. Dholes hunt together, but in smaller packs, and prioritize feeding the young and weak before themselves. They are known to attack very difficult prey, even while incurring heavy losses to the pack. They corner their prey to limit its movement. They are also oddly respectful of domestic animals, and generally will not attack young animals.
Q -- Efimia ['Efi'] (meaning 'well-spoken') is a degu. Degus work together in large groups to burrow and make massive underground tunnels. They have an elaborate vocal repertoire, and can see past human spectra. They are very intelligent, good problem-solvers, and have been known to use tools.
Eve Moneypenny -- Praxiteles ['Prax'] (meaning 'aimed action') is a F1 Savannah cat. Savannah cats are crosses between a serval (a wild cat) and a domestic cat. F1 would be a direct cross, the result of a serval and domestic cat mating. They are very loyal, and often follow their owners around the house, and are very agile and athletic, known for their jumping abilities. They are inquisitive, and like to go where they aren't supposed to go.
Bill Tanner -- Cynbelle (meaning 'chief') is an Australian Shepherd. Aussies are herding dogs, and bred to be 'quick, thoughtful, and easy' with their 'stock'. They can be energetic, or calm and easy-going, and form very, very close bonds with their owners. They are excellent family dogs, and hard-workers.
Kincade -- Greer (meaning 'watchful') is a lurcher. Lurchers are crosses between different types of hunting dogs, and are popular for gamekeepers, and hunters. Their temperament varies, depending on what their make-up is, but Greer is probably some sort of deerhound/collie/greyhound mix (it's hard to know, as she doesn't have 'parents' so to speak). They're bred to work hard, be loyal and watchful, but not aggressive, and will be protective of individuals, but not necessarily homes or properties. They are also usually quite gentle and good with children.

I've always maintained that that Aussie looks like Rory Kinnear. I don't know why. Just the eyes, maybe. I also think that dhole looks like Ralph Fiennes, which is definitely the eyes.
no subject
Yes on both counts!
This whole "Guess what animal the actor looks like?" is a fun game. It combines my love of comparing actors faces with looking at pictures of cute animals.

I always use this Welshie (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/321866704594211475/) for Haddie, because I think it looks like James D'arcy. The neck, I think.

Definitely the neck and a bit of the eyes too, I think.
I imagine this is young!Betti honing her Disappointed Stare: http://babyanimalposts.tumblr.com/post/127436735778/feeling-down-you-need-this-baby-animal-blog

Betti: It's not nice being mean!
Cam: I wasn't being mean.
Betti: Was, too! You mean. *disappointed look*
Cam: I sorry, Betti. *quiet voice* Wasn't being mean.
Here's (https://www.flickr.com/photos/floridapfe/439651614/in/photostream/) Cam and Winnie absolutely not up to anything at all. And apparently Winnie has decided to wear her Captain America outfit today.

Cam: I sorry, Betti. *quiet voice* Wasn't being mean.
Haha! This totally reminds me of Paddington's Hard Stare.
Here's Cam and Winnie absolutely not up to anything at all. And apparently Winnie has decided to wear her Captain America outfit today.
Cam: I think JJ is fighting Marc again.
Winnie: The 5th grader?
Cam: Yeah...we should go help.
Winnie: But dad told me not to- nevermind let's go.

Cam: Yeah...we should go help.
Winnie: But dad told me not to- nevermind let's go.
Hee! I love Cam's very nonchalant response there.
Betti: JJ's totally--ouch!--fine. He doesn't need any--yikes!--help.
Here's (http://gifak-net.tumblr.com/post/126433200864/dog-teaching-baby-to-crawl) the video Steve sent Bucky when JJ started crawling. Issie is offering enthusiastic support.

Here's Shess at one of Winnie and Cam's track meets. She's had a bit of a long day and is maybe feeling a little frustrated and tired: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/299911656413273909/

Shess: *muttering* Stupid officials, Winnie did not step out of her lane, that was a ridiculous call. *slams chair down* She should have the gold. I cannot believe she was DQ'd. *folds arms*
Issie: Do you think you might be overreacting?
Shess: Oh, you're one to talk. Remember when JJ was DQ'd for non-simultaneous touch during the breaststroke?
Issie: He would never forget to do that, it's his best stroke! The sensor had to have been faulty! He would have set a pool record! And that floaty already had a hole in it, I didn't actually pop it.
Steve and JJ (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/321866704597146583/) being hardcore bikers.

Steve and JJ being hardcore bikers.
So cute! I can already hear Steve making 'vroom vroom!' noises whenever JJ pushes his bike forward.
no subject
Ha! Yep. Also Steve cheering in a supportive, but not over the top fashion, while Issie bounces from bleacher step to bleacher step.
I can already hear Steve making 'vroom vroom!' noises whenever JJ pushes his bike forward.
Eee! Yes! And patiently walking his bike along as JJ inches down the street.
JJ: I go very fast!
Steve: I know, buddy, you better watch out, you don't want to get a ticket. *motorcycle noises*
I can also picture Steve grabbing the handle on the back and running to push JJ along at super soldier speeds.
Nora: Steve Rogers, you run like a normal person right now! That is dangerous!
JJ and Steve: Awww...

JJ and Steve: Awww...
With two supersoldiers and Tony Stark in their lives, I feel JJ and Winnie spent a lot of time being taken to places very quickly.
I have this headcanon of Winnie being a very fast driver which Elliot only found out about the one time he was in the car with her as she chased after a suspect.
Elliot: *grips seat* You're going really fast.
Winnie: I got it. Just pretend we're in a Bond film.
Elliot: Right. But I feel like you're James Bond and I'm the innocent who dies the fiery death.

Also without any concept of things being very heavy to move about. Oh, you want your bed in the other corner of the room? No problem. *picks up, plunks down*
I have a headcanon about when Nora moved in with Steve, and it only took them an hour to clear out her apartment and get moved into his place, because Steve and Bucky were throwing boxes and furniture out the windows and from the sidewalk to the front door.
Bucky: Head's up! *tosses a box of books from the moving truck to a second storey window*
Steve: *catches it without looking and puts it on the floor*
Bucky: Hey, where do you want this armchair?
Nora: Is he going to throw it?
Steve: Yeah, but I don't think it will fit through the window...
Nora: Well, you're fired as movers. That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard.
Elliot: *grips seat* You're going really fast.
Winnie: I got it. Just pretend we're in a Bond film.
Elliot: Right. But I feel like you're James Bond and I'm the innocent who dies the fiery death.
Hahaha! Poor Elliot. I picture JJ probably using a motorcycle as his form of transportation if he isn't walking or taking the subway, but I imagine he obeys traffic laws, due to Nora's friendly reminders that his bones are made of breakable things. He'd totally be the one in the passenger seat telling Winnie how many red lights she's run, but otherwise very calm.
I'm off to bed! G'night!

Winnie's a safe driver in the sense she manages to obey all the traffic light laws but goes way over the speed limit. So...'safe.'

Now I'm picturing some sort of road trip, with Winnie driving and JJ managing Stark Maps in the front seat to direct her, while Elliot and Tess sit white-knuckled in the back.
JJ: Okay, so we want to take the next turn--oh, no, sorry this turn. Sorry!
Winnie: No problem. *handbrake turn around the corner*
Tess: Fucking fuck! Can we stay on all four wheels, please?
Elliot: Maybe JJ should take a turn driving?
Tess: Not if you don't want to stop for every animal you see in case it's hurt or lost. And come home with at least four in your lap. We'd get there in time to come home.
JJ: Oh, maybe it was the next turn...
Winnie: *preparation for epic handbrake reversal*
JJ: Nope! It's this one. Take a left up ahead.
Winnie: *whooosh*
Elliot: But we'd get there. That might be the most important thing.
JJ: Is that a dog in that field?
Winnie: *whooosh*

Winnie: *whooosh*
HAHA!
By the time they get to their destination, Elliot and Tess are probably looking up if a car service back to their house is really all THAT expensive.

JJ: *on phone to Steve* We can't get the camper off the truck. We've both tried really hard. I think the lifter system is broken.
Steve: Yeah, it always does that. Just lift the camper up and it should kick it into gear.
JJ: Dad?
Steve: Yeah?
JJ: I can't lift a camper.
Steve: Oh. Right. Okay, well call Tony, he can probably help you fix the system.
no subject
Steve: Yeah?
JJ: I can't lift a camper.
Hee! Ah, how quickly Steve forgets his serum advantage. Well, actually not quickly at all. He's had it for over a century now.
Winnie: Did our dads really just climb up trees and break off branches for firewood with their bare hands?
JJ: I think so.
Winnie: We better bring some.
no subject
Winnie: We better bring some.
Ha! These are the stories that make for interesting 'what I did on my summer vacation' essays for JJ and Winnie's teachers.
'And then the car got a flat tire, but it was okay because Uncle Bucky just lifted it up and Dad unscrewed the lugs with his fingers and put the new tire on, and we kept going.'
I have a few moments in my JJ's birth fic where Nora finds Steve's serum strength very useful. Mainly lifting her in and out of bed when she has to go to the bathroom, because she's kind of huge by this point and it's a lot of energy to do it herself. And she also decides mid-pushing she'd like to be on her knees, and the doctor is like 'well, you might find it hard to change posit--"
Steve: *plucks Nora up, puts her on her knees*
Doctor: Or that works. Okay, big push!
