Daemon Natterage (huzzah!)

Been awhile since my last daemon natter, so here's a double dose for two smaller fandoms, Inspector Lewis, and Skyfall.
Inspector Robbie Lewis -- Adala ['Addie'] (meaning 'to act justly') is a Bernese Mountain dog. Berners are gentle giants, and their breed standards call for them to be 'good-natured', 'self-assured', 'placid toward strangers' and 'docile'. They are very good with children, and are good with other animals and strangers. They do like a bit of exercise, but aren't built for endurance, though they had move very fast when the situation calls for it.
Inspector James Hathaway -- Ismini (meaning 'knowledge') is a mountain weasel. All animals in the mustela genus are very intelligent, and mountain weasels in particular are very solitary, but will chat with other weasels, and are able to swim and climb, and have excellent vision. Weasels have folkloric reputations of being associated with death and harbingers of bad omens.
Chief Superintendent Jean Innocent-- Torin (meaning 'chief') is a barn owl. Barn owls hunt by flying slowly and hovering over spots that conceal prey. They have excellent ears, and when they get angry, they bob from side to side and stare down the threat. They have sharps talons, and tear apart their prey. Owls in general are associated with wisdom, and death.
Dr. Laura Hobson -- Talaton ['Tal'] (meaning 'scales' [measuring ones]) is a white-headed capuchin monkey. Capuchins are considered to be the most intelligent of the New World monkeys, and have been used in labs, and they can be trained to help people with disabilities. They are very playful and social, and have been known to use tools.
James Bond -- Einara ['Nara'] (meaning 'lone warrior') is a bobcat. Bobcats are extremely adaptable, able to eat a wide variety of food and go for long periods without it. They hunt alone, and stalk and pounce on their prey, and vary their hunting techniques based on their quarry. They are very quiet, unless mating.
M (Olivia Mansfield) -- Kresimir (meaning 'to spark peace') is an orchid mantis. Orchid mantises resemble flowers, and stay still to lure their prey in, hiding in plain sight. They stand their ground when threatened, and don't attack unless forced to. They also are extremely aggressive protecting their young.
M (Gareth Mallory) -- Tassia (meaning 'silence') is a dhole. Dholes hunt together, but in smaller packs, and prioritize feeding the young and weak before themselves. They are known to attack very difficult prey, even while incurring heavy losses to the pack. They corner their prey to limit its movement. They are also oddly respectful of domestic animals, and generally will not attack young animals.
Q -- Efimia ['Efi'] (meaning 'well-spoken') is a degu. Degus work together in large groups to burrow and make massive underground tunnels. They have an elaborate vocal repertoire, and can see past human spectra. They are very intelligent, good problem-solvers, and have been known to use tools.
Eve Moneypenny -- Praxiteles ['Prax'] (meaning 'aimed action') is a F1 Savannah cat. Savannah cats are crosses between a serval (a wild cat) and a domestic cat. F1 would be a direct cross, the result of a serval and domestic cat mating. They are very loyal, and often follow their owners around the house, and are very agile and athletic, known for their jumping abilities. They are inquisitive, and like to go where they aren't supposed to go.
Bill Tanner -- Cynbelle (meaning 'chief') is an Australian Shepherd. Aussies are herding dogs, and bred to be 'quick, thoughtful, and easy' with their 'stock'. They can be energetic, or calm and easy-going, and form very, very close bonds with their owners. They are excellent family dogs, and hard-workers.
Kincade -- Greer (meaning 'watchful') is a lurcher. Lurchers are crosses between different types of hunting dogs, and are popular for gamekeepers, and hunters. Their temperament varies, depending on what their make-up is, but Greer is probably some sort of deerhound/collie/greyhound mix (it's hard to know, as she doesn't have 'parents' so to speak). They're bred to work hard, be loyal and watchful, but not aggressive, and will be protective of individuals, but not necessarily homes or properties. They are also usually quite gentle and good with children.

JJ: I can't lift a camper.
Hee! Ah, how quickly Steve forgets his serum advantage. Well, actually not quickly at all. He's had it for over a century now.
Winnie: Did our dads really just climb up trees and break off branches for firewood with their bare hands?
JJ: I think so.
Winnie: We better bring some.

Ha! These are the stories that make for interesting 'what I did on my summer vacation' essays for JJ and Winnie's teachers.
'And then the car got a flat tire, but it was okay because Uncle Bucky just lifted it up and Dad unscrewed the lugs with his fingers and put the new tire on, and we kept going.'
I have a few moments in my JJ's birth fic where Nora finds Steve's serum strength very useful. Mainly lifting her in and out of bed when she has to go to the bathroom, because she's kind of huge by this point and it's a lot of energy to do it herself. And she also decides mid-pushing she'd like to be on her knees, and the doctor is like 'well, you might find it hard to change posit--"
Steve: *plucks Nora up, puts her on her knees*
Doctor: Or that works. Okay, big push!
