Title: Identity Crisis (Pt 5)
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Daniel Sousa, Ana Jarvis, some OCs, daemons
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, body swapping, later very brief references to the Holocaust
Spoilers: None, really
Pairings: Ana/Jarvis, Peggy/Sousa
Word Count 4,504 (this part)
Summary: A forgotten artifact of seemingly Norse origin causes some unexpected side effects when Howard gets it working again. Namely, him and his butler swapping bodies. Which is rather inconvenient, considering Howard's supposed to be negotiating with the ambassador of Symkaria tomorrow.
Author's notes: Last chapter! Thanks for reading!

Howard mentions Dr. Erskine's daemon, Ruya in this chapter. She was a brown rat. I don't think I've ever mentioned my choice for him anywhere before.

For reference: Haddie (A Welsh Springer Spaniel), Dejeni (a raccoon), Takeo (a spotted hyena), Hesper (a Chinese Oak Silkmoth)

Author's notes: This chapter's long, but all the parts sort of fit together, and it didn't seem to flow if I split them up.

For reference: Haddie (A Welsh Springer Spaniel), Dejeni (a raccoon), Takeo (a spotted hyena), Hesper (a Chinese Oak Silkmoth)

Author's notes: Unrelated to the story, but I've changed the font to be more comfortable to read on on my journal. Also the smart quotes in the old font were ugly, and I couldn't take them any more.

Warnings/Triggers: swearing, body swapping, later very brief references to the Holocaust

Author's notes: The countries of Symkaria and Latveria are fictional within the Marvel Comics universe, and I don't believe they've been brought into the MCU yet (they mostly concern the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man), so I've used them here for my purposes, especially since their fictional histories fit best in this time period. Latveria is the home of Dr. Doom (though, at this point in time, I've used his predecessor, the Baron, as the leader) and Symkaria is a peaceful country, ruled by a royal family, which earns much of its income from Silver Sable and her Wild Pack of mercenaries. Peggy goes into more detail about them later on in the story. I've also had to split her section into two to make the chapter lengths and flow better, so she both finishes this chapter and starts the next one.

For reference: Haddie (A Welsh Springer Spaniel), Dejeni (a raccoon), Takeo (a spotted hyena), Hesper (a Chinese Oak Silkmoth)

PART ONE.

ETA: It wasn't up for long, but I did a rewrite on this chapter, and posted a version I didn't like, so I hope nobody read it. This is the right version now. Sorry about that!

Author's notes: [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble and I had a conversation, and, is wont to happen, now there is a fic as a result. I originally started this as a fun brain break from a really long fic I was writing, thinking it would be short and silly. And I actually wrote something like five chapters worth of fic, instead. Oops.

This is set circa 1949(?). POVs alternate between Jarvis, Howard, and Peggy. Each character decided on their own terminology about how to refer to the swapped people and daemons, and I hope it's clear where it should be and confusing where it should be. It's hard to write visual gags in a non-visual format. I have the whole thing almost written, but I haven't quite decided on how to split up in the chapters yet, so there will be at least four, possibly five.

I haven't seen Civil War, and won't until it comes out on home video, so I will probably be playing in this end of the canon until such a time as I can get caught up.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble for brainstorming with me. You're a terrible person and I love you! Takeo and Dejeni are also her creations, so thank you for letting me play with them.

For reference: Haddie (A Welsh Springer Spaniel), Dejeni (a raccoon), Takeo (a spotted hyena), and Eitana (an aardwolf).

Title: Giving Oneself Airs
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, General Someguy
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: Howard and Jarvis' backstories, somewhat
Pairings: none
Word Count 3,540
Summary: Lance Corporal Edwin Jarvis meets an American without any sense of decorum, and gives him a bit of a hand.
Author's notes: This is an idea that cropped out of something else I was writing, when my Word Fairy said 'no, let's go think about that'. I had an idea of writing how Jarvis and Howard met, and exploring Howard Stark before he was a fully formed Howard Stark, and what both Jarvis and the General might have done to make Howard want to step in for Jarvis later on.

I'm not entirely sure if Jarvis met Howard before the war or during it, but I've placed it before for my own purposes, and this story is set in 1937. The MCU timeline is a thing of a great and terrible beauty, but it says that Howard was born in 1917, so he would be about twenty here. I'm guessing Jarvis is a few years older (?). It also says that Howard met Erskine at a science conference in 1934, when Howard would have only been seventeen or so, so I'm guessing he started the company really young and had success super fast.

This story contradicts a few things I wrote in 'The Virtues of Being Useful', but that's really AU now that Season Two has aired, so it doesn't matter much.

Sir, your clothing. You’re not in the right tie. )

Title: Happy Families
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Peggy Carter, Ana Jarvis, Daniel Sousa, a dog
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: most of Agent Carter thus far, but nothing terribly specific
Pairings: Ana/Jarvis, Peggy/Sousa
Word Count 4,965
Summary: Peggy is about start a family, while Jarvis is quite happy with the one he's already created.
Author's notes: This was a weird one to write. I can't even remember why I started writing it, but I wrote the whole thing, decided I didn't like it. So I chopped off the second half and wrote an entire different ending, with an entirely different message, and now I like it a lot more. Editing!

I've gone ahead and assumed that Daniel Sousa is who Peggy ended up marrying. I would hope she wouldn't have another heartbreak in her life before finding her husband. This set probably late 40's early 50's? Maybe?

For reference, Hildi looks like this.

I haven’t done that since the end of the first trimester! )

Title: Love and Enthusiasm
Characters: Ana Jarvis, Tony Stark, Edwin Jarvis, Maria Stark
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: some references to anti-semitism
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Ana/Jarvis
Word Count 5,138
Summary: Ana takes in a wandering Stark, and teaches him how to make challah.
Author's notes: I recently posted 'Character Flaws' AO3, and someone there commented asking for more little!Tony and Ana and Jarvis, and I thought 'I can do that'. So, this is a fluffy Stark Family Adventures fic.

I have never made challah, and I did much research into it, and my understanding is that everyone does it their own way, so I've cobbled together various recipes, techniques and traditions that I found. I hope I have all the meaning and mitzvahs involved correct, my sincere apologies if I've messed anything up.

Tony is approximately three, probably closer to four in this. I've used a mixed of British and American English for Ana, assuming she'd have learned from speakers of both.

I really need an Ana Jarvis icon...

I come to see you! )

Title: No Repairs Needed
Characters: Howard Stark, Ana Jarvis
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: vague sad things
Spoilers: Agent Carter Series Two
Pairings: Ana/Jarvis
Word Count 2,192
Summary: Howard can't fix anything that's broken right now, but maybe some things don't need to be fixed.
Author's notes: I was hoping we would get a scene with Howard and Ana together this season, but we didn't, and I also wanted to do something with Howard getting a chance to react to everything that happened while he was in Peru. So, this is basically just a short fic of Ana and Howard having a chat.

Did you get the flowers I sent? )

Title: Doctor, Butler, Therapist
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, Maria Stark, Ana Jarvis
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: kidney stones, bodily fluids, someone in severe pain, a lot of swearing, mentions of infertility.
Spoilers: Agent Carter Series Two character development
Pairings: Howard/Maria, Ana/Jarvis
Word Count 4,719
Summary: With the newest member of the family due to arrive shortly, stress is high at the Stark household, which makes it an unfortunate time for Mr Stark to pass a kidney stone. Fortunately, Jarvis is there to play doctor, butler, and therapist to his employers.
Author's notes: I started writing this during my week of kidney stones, with a vague idea of where I wanted to go, but didn't get very far. Then we got some character development in the last couple of episodes of Agent Carter, and suddenly the whole thing wrote itself very quickly. For the record, my pain was no where near as severe as the level I've given Howard (sorry Howard, I guess), but it is accurate to the amount many people experience. Drink water, people! Keep yourself hydrated.

Sorry to bother you, but Howard thinks he's dying. )

Title: White Noise
Characters: Peggy Carter, Edwin Jarvis, Daniel Sousa, Rose Roberts, Dr. Samberly
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: someone who has been impaled, some blood, a person in shock, etc.
Spoilers: Agent Carter 2x5 "The Atomic Job"
Pairings: None
Word Count 3,018
Summary: Peggy fights against the white noise filling her brain, as her friends help her out of a tricky situation.
Author's notes: Another 'missing scene fic' as they didn't show the aftermath of Peggy being impaled due to, I assume, keeping the plot going. But I wanted to know how they got her out of there, and was messing around, and then I got excited because I had actual, plausible science ideas! Yay me! And then I wrote almost all of it, before realizing I needed to change both narrators and tenses to make it work better, and rewrote it. So, this is getting posted an hour before the next episode airs. Sorry about that.

My years with Mr Stark have given me an uncomfortable knowledge of how to break things with science. )

Title: Bad Habits
Characters: Ana Jarvis, Edwin Jarvis, Peggy Carter, Daniel Sousa, daemons
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: someone who has been drugged
Spoilers: Most of the first four episodes of Season Two of Agent Carter
Pairings: Jarvis/Ana
Word Count 3,656
Summary: Ana has a husband with a very bad habit of hurting himself and committing felonies.
Author's notes: This is a short(ish) missing scene sort of thing from Episode Four, when Jarvis is drugged by the tranquillizer dart. I wanted to do something with Ana caring for him, and it ended up being a silly bit of fluff and a chance to explore their relationship dynamics. Also, there are daemons, because that's how it arrived in my head.

For the record, I assume Ana and Hesper probably speak to each other in Hungarian, but for obvious reasons, I've had them use English here, except for a few, appropriate places.

Peggy Carter's daemon, Takeo, was created by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble, with whom I share the MCU daemons. Thanks to her!

For reference: Hesperos ["Hesper/Hesci"] (a Chinese Oath Silk Moth), Haddie (a Welsh Springer spaniel), Takeo (a Spotted Hyena), and Eitana (an aardwolf).

Title: Character Flaws
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Tony Stark, Howard Stark, Ana Jarvis, Maria Stark
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: some swearing, a bit of violence
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Jarvis/Ana, Howard/Maria
Word Count 5,665
Summary: Jarvis’ outing with Master Tony is interrupted by a particularly aggressive photographer, who places himself in the hazardous position of getting on Edwin Jarvis’ bad side.
Author's notes: I was musing about Season 2!Jarvis’ increased fighting skills, and I wondered if Tony had ever seen them put to use, and then this idea popped into my head.

Set in 1974 (specifically August, apparently, from Jarvis’ comments on current events). Tony is four. I did my best to be somewhat realistic with the American judicial system, but I think I may have fudged slightly for the sake of storytelling.

Is he a good photog or a bad photog? )
awanderingbard: (MCU: Peggy)
Title: In the Middle
Characters: Archie Goodwin, Nero Wolfe, Peggy Carter, Edwin Jarvis
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: some blood
Spoilers: none
Pairings: None, but some flirting happens
Word Count 3,407
Summary: Archie tells a tale with no beginning and no end, for posterity’s sake.
Author's notes: I had a really bad migraine over the weekend. And, while I was lying in bed with my brain fuzzy, it decided that Nero Wolfeand Agent Carter should be crossed over. I have literally no idea why I was even thinking about Nero Wolfe, but when I sat down to write it, I did the whole first draft in twenty minutes. So, here we are. Starting 2016 off with a weird crossover as my first story.

It’s been many moons since my Nero Wolfe fandom days, but I did a little brushing up on media, and I hope Archie’s voice sounds okay. I aimed it more toward the TV series than the books, just because it was easier to hear Timothy Hutton’s voice in my head.

Nero Wolfe is a tiny, tiny fandom, at best, so if you are unfamiliar with it, I’m not surprised, and you might be lost reading this, as it's all from Archie's POV. I highly recommend getting your hands on some of the books, or the A&E tv series. They are both fantastically entertaining.

It’s not polite to tackle a lady with a head injury, even if she was about to interrupt the world’s greatest genius in the middle of being a genius. )

Title: People Who Like Each Other
Characters: Angie, Peggy, Howard, Jarvis, Bond
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: slight innuendo, passing mentions of war wounds
Spoilers: A few general ones for Agent Carter Season One
Pairings: Angie/Bond
Word Count 7,892
Summary: Angie’s attempts at a Very British Christmas don’t go quite to plan, but luckily there are people who like each other around to help make it a memorable day anyway.
Author's notes: Follows Ships in the Night, The Second Threat, and Next Time, Dinner, but I don’t think those need to be read to follow this at all. This was one of the fics salvaged from the Great Flash Drive Disaster of 2015, and I’ve managed to get it done for Christmas! Go me. I tossed Bond in here, because this will probably all be AU once Season Two of Agent Carter rolls in, anyway. I haven’t seen Spectre, and won’t until it hits DVD, but this isn’t canon anyway, so I don’t think it matters if there are any discrepancies.

I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has a lovely one, and that everyone who doesn’t has a lovely break, too.

People who like each other should be together on Christmas. )

Title: The Man Behind the Curtain
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Tony Stark, Howard Stark, Maria Stark
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: Contains characters from both Agent Carter, and Iron Man, but no major plot spoilers, as far I can see
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, I just like to take them out to play.
Word Count 1717
Summary: The Stark Christmas party is always the affair of the season. And no one need know the effort that goes on behind the scenes to make it that way.
Author's notes: This is set in 1974, so Tony is approx. four-and-a-half or there abouts. Fun fact: the period key on my keyboard broke near the end of writing this, and now there's just a big hole there. But it's working, somewhat, so I write on.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo, and the cut links to there.

All was calm within the party, however, and it was for the best if no one knew how close it was to chaos.

Title: Off-Duty Hours
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Tony Stark, Anna Jarvis
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: A few general ones for the MCU at large
Pairings: Howard/Maria, Anna/Jarvis
Word Count 6,356
Summary: Jarvis comes home from an unusual day of satisfying his employer's whims, to find a rather large surprise waiting for him. Just in time for his birthday.
Author's notes: This is perhaps the only 'normal' story to come out of the crossover memes [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble and I did a while back. One of the questions was about a surprise party for Jarvis, and that seemed like the fluffy goodness I enjoy. It turned out to be quite a bit harder to write than I thought, due to the amount of characters I had to juggle. I think this is the fourth version. I hope it all reads okay in the end!

Set in 1973, or thereabouts. I have no idea what Jarvis' age is meant to be, so I've avoided mentioning it, and I've also left a blank for Peggy's husband's name. Tony is about three, and everyone else is around mid-fifties, I'm guessing, except for Maria, who is late-thirties.

Jarvis' cuff links are based on a real Paul Flato deisgn, and look like this, for those curious.

I did get him to tone it down. Otherwise, we'd have three hundred guests and a fire eater. )
awanderingbard: (Dresden: Harry magicking)
I'm not sure if this will be interesting to anyone, but I always like seeing speedpaints and progressions of art stuff, so I thought other people might as well.

This is a sort of step-by-step of a daemon portrait, of James Hathaway and his daemon, Ismini. Not really a tutorial, though I'm happy to clarify if anyone has any questions.

I use Paint Shop Pro 18, and The GIMP.

Images used are this one, from a Google search, and this one, from Wikimedia commons.

Ismini is a Mountain weasel, but I couldn't find a good picture of a mountain weasel (they're shy), so I used a polecat, which is also in the mustela family, and changed her colour to look a little more like a mountain weasel. But she is still too dark. But we take what we can get.

Title: Next Time, Dinner
Characters: Angie, Bond, Peggy
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: wounds, suturing, infections, some innuendo
Spoilers: A few general ones for Agent Carter Season One
Pairings: Angie/Bond
Word Count 5,587
Summary: Angie has a third encounter with a certain British spy, this time injured, not wearing pants, and in her apartment.
Author's notes: Follows Ships in the Night, and The Second Threat. Last part of this 'Triple Threat' trilogy, and I think I've gotten everyone to where I wanted them to be. I may write more, but this leaves it off nicely if I don't, I think.

And why aren't you wearing pants?! )
awanderingbard: (MCU: Angie)
Title: The Second Threat
Characters: Angie, Bond, Peggy, Howard
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: sexual harassment considered acceptable for the time period
Spoilers: A few general ones for Agent Carter Season One
Pairings: heavy Angie/Bond flirting
Word Count 3,111
Summary: Angie moonlights as a cocktail waitress for a night for a crowd of people that is full of celebrities, and, as it turns out, spies.
Author's notes: I was trying to write a sequel to Ships in the Night, and somewhere along the way the first part of the story got entirely separated from the second half of the story, and the more I tried to join them together, the harder it got to write, and then I remembered that you can actually write stories that aren't 9,000 words long sometimes. So, I broke it off into a short interlude of espionage fun and will do something with the second part later on.

The song that Angie and Bond dance to is 'That's For Me' by Dick Haymes (from 'State Fair').

I think this uniform suits you better. )
