awanderingbard: (MCU: Cap)
Title: Camp Sludge
Characters: Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, Steve Rogers, the 69th (Howling Commandos)
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: In a war setting, but no violence or upsetting things involved
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Peggy/Steve UST, Falsworth/Random lady I made up
Word Count 5,016
Summary: On an escort trip home from a mission, Peggy and Howard experience the joys of field life, including bad food, tents, and friendship around the fire.
Author's notes: I was messing around with a prompt generator the other day, and it gave me 'friendship, rabbit, stew' for the prompts. And it was oddly totally relevant to a section of a super epic 'Peggy and Howard Have War Adventures with Steve and the 69th' story I'd been fighting with and eventually abandoned and hacked apart to pare down to something simpler. And it occurred to me I could take parts of that story and write a few smaller fics, and so this is one of them, with the themes of 'friendship, rabbit, stew'.

I've done my best to get all the Commandos to do something here, but there are a lot of them and some are more fleshed out than others, so a few do dominate the actions here. Also, Falsworth's sweetheart is entirely from my head. I mentioned her once in a throwaway and decided she was needed again here, and expanded on it. Some of Falsworth's backstory is from the comics.

Set during The First Avenger, but other than that, no idea when.

She hoped Howard would make it through the night without someone smothering him. )

Title: Like Father, Like Son (2/2)
Characters: Tony Stark, Howard Stark, brief Edwin Jarvis
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, blood, sutures, impaled objects
Spoilers: None
Pairings: References to Howard/Maria and Jarvis/Anna
Word Count 3,021
Summary: Tony makes a stupid mistake on a project that results in an ER trip, and proves that Stark genetics really do run deep.
Author's notes: Part two. Part one can be found here.

Can you get me a donut? )

Title: Like Father, Like Son (1/2)
Characters: Tony Stark, Howard Stark, brief Edwin Jarvis
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, blood, sutures, impaled objects
Spoilers: None
Pairings: References to Howard/Maria and Jarvis/Anna
Word Count 3,399
Summary: Tony makes a stupid mistake on a project that results in an ER trip, and proves that Stark genetics really do run deep.
Author's notes: Sorry for all the hospital fics of late. I think I've hit the hurt/comfort stage of 'enthusiastic fandom adoption'.

This is the first part, the second part is from Howard's POV, and can be found here.

Tony is around thirteen here, so Howard is in his 60's, and the year is somewhere around 1983.

You had to do this the night everyone was out, didn't you? )

Title: Reunion
Characters: Steve Rogers, Jacqueline Falsworth-Crichton, a slew of OCs
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: Generalized Captain America spoilers
Pairings: None, aside from a few mentions of the Commandos and their partners
Word Count 6,429
Summary: Steve is invited to the 14th Annual Howling Commandos Family Reunion, which turns out to be a bit more overwhelming than he'd expected, but rather heartwarming, too.
Author's notes: This is an expansion of the fic I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo in December. That fic makes the beginning of this one, and then I added on the rest now that I'm not limited by word count.

At the time I started writing this, the only Commandos we knew about were the ones in the original Captain America film, and to save myself a lot of trouble, I've elected not to fold in the ones we've learned of thanks to Agent Carter. Also, I'm not clear on whether Steve met those Commandos or not. To make things easier on myself and not have to come up with a billion surnames, Steve refers to each descendent by the family they come from (any descendent of Gabe is a 'Jones', any of Jacques is a 'Dernier', etc), even though I know there would be a ton of other surnames going by now.

Inspired by a post on tumblr quite a while back about the Howling Commandos being a big extended family and having reunions and such. It's here, though I sort of went off in my own direction with it. I wanted something with Bucky, but it got too long and would have been tacked on, so I've left it as is.

And now, Steve was awake to join in. )

Title: Silver Screen
Characters: Tony, Steve, Natasha, Thor, Clint, Bruce, J.A.R.V.I.S
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: Swearing, hints of bittersweet/angst here and there
Spoilers: Most of the MCU, including some references to Agent Carter (no plot stuff)
Pairings: References to Tony/Pepper, Thor/Jane, and past Bruce/Betty Ross
Word Count 3,971
Summary: Tony gives Steve a firm education in the glories of movie musicals made after he was frozen, Thor an education in movie musicals period, and kicks off the Avengers Movie Night to Educate Aliens and Time Traveling Super Soldiers.
Author's notes: No idea how or if this will fit into the MCU 'verse, but my original version of this idea was AU'd once already, so I'm putting this version up before another movie comes along to do the same.

Knowledge of Singin' in the Rain is probably helpful, but not necessary to understanding, I don't think. As is general knowledge of old movies.

Largely fluff and silliness, but there's some discussion of Bucky in here that adds some angst.

I'm sorry for all the fics of late, I'm in that spot where everything I've been working on gets done at the same time.

No, please tell me they never made a serial about me. )

awanderingbard: (Marvel: Tony Stark is awesome)
Title: Sincerity and Strawberries
Characters: Howard Stark, Maria Stark, Tony Stark, Edwin Jarvis, random au pair
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing and innuendo, a bit of sadness
Spoilers: None
Pairings: Howard/Maria, references to Jarvis/Anna
Word Count 8,369
Summary: Howard's plans for the night are derailed when Maria has to go away, leaving him with Tony, a broken robot, and a whole lot of reports to read.
Author's notes: Man, this one went 'fwoosh!' on me and blew right up. I started with one very small idea, and then...I couldn't stop writing. Kind of a go at Howard's narration voice in an non-daemon setting, and his experiences with fatherhood in Tony's early years.

A mix of fluff and a bit of sadness, mostly stemming from knowledge we have of the future than the content of the story.

Tony is ~2 years old here.

It's Tony! )
awanderingbard: (Marvel: Tony Stark is awesome)
Title: Adjustment Period
Characters: Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, Maria Stark, Edwin Jarvis, Tony Stark
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: a great deal of frank discussion about birthing and uteruses and the bodily fluids that go with it
Spoilers: A few character beats from Agent Carter and Captain America
Pairings: Howard/Maria, references to Jarvis/Anna, implied Peggy/her husband
Word Count 7,147 words
Summary: Peggy Carter comes to visit the Stark Baby in the hospital, helps Howard and Maria get the hang of being new parents.
Author's notes: Mostly an exercise in trying to find Peggy's voice. I've never written from her POV, or even giving her very many lines before, so I hope she's okay.

I've made some deductions on Peggy's home life, based on background details from the Cap 2 movie. We know that she's married by 1953, and on her beside table in the hospital, there is a picture of a young Peggy with two children, a boy and a girl. I'm assuming those are hers. They might not be, but I'm running with it. Because we don't know the names of her husband or potential children, I've worked around that and I haven't gone into much detail about them in her internal monologue, as I would have if I had more information. Also, because she goes by 'Peggy Carter' in the Smithsonian video, I assume she continued to use her maiden name. I'm estimating her children would be somewhere between their late-teens and early twenties, but they might be younger.

Set in 1970. All the adults would be ~50 years old, give or take a few years in each case. Except for Maria, who is in her mid-thirties. I'm sorry this is 7000 words long. I don't now how that happened. I literally went 'huh?!' when I put it into the word counter.

All he said was 'tell Pegs she owes me a bottle of whisky'. )

Title: A Delicate Operation
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, Tony Stark, Maria Stark
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: some crude language and humour
Spoilers: A few character details from the MCU, nothing too earth-shattering
Pairings: Howard/Maria, references to Jarvis/Anna
Word Count 5,847
Summary: Jarvis attempts to get the Stark Family out the door for a social engagement, after having making the critical error of stopping for tea.
Author's notes: No idea where this came from, I think I just wanted to mess around with some dynamics.

Set in 1984. Tony is about 14 years old here, Howard and Jarvis somewhere in their mid-sixties, and Maria around 50, maybe younger or older.

I've constructed Maria from what little we know about her in the MCU, and bits and pieces of various comic books incarnations, with a heavy dose of me Making Stuff Up thrown in.

The whole operation was in jeopardy thanks to the 2nd Earl Grey. )

Title: Crossed Wires (Part Two)
Characters: Tony, Howard, Jarvis, Stane, Maria, Peggy, dæmons
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, bullying, a child running away, assumptions of kidnap and worries related to it, family dysfunction/drama, implications of alcoholism, brief reference to the non-tragic death of a spouse
Spoilers: Basic ones for the structure and past of the Stark family as laid out in the Iron Man movies, and Captain America related media.
Pairings: Howard/Maria
Word Count 7,692
Summary: Tony runs away from school, leading Howard to realize just how out of touch he is with his son.
Author's notes: This is part two, part one is here.

Brief note, because I realize I never made this clear anywhere, Haddie's full name is 'Hendrina', but she doesn't get called that, ever. Except by Jarvis, at the end of this fic, which I realize is a bit out of nowhere, but he decided to do it and I said he could.

You never listen to me! )

Rating: PG-13

Spoilers: Basic ones for the structure and past of the Stark family as laid out in the Iron Man movies, and Captain America related media
Pairings: Howard/Maria
Word Count 6,177
Summary: Tony runs away from school, leading Howard to realize just how out of touch he is with his son.
Author's notes: As always seems to be the case, this stemmed from conversations with [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble, because she brings all the plot bunnies to my door, apparently. A big thanks to her for nattering with me and allowing me the borrowing of Dejeni and some of her headcanon.

This is a very long story, for which I apologize. I didn't worry too much about keeping the POV switches of equal length or number, and Jarvis decided he'd step in for a random part at the end, so apologies for the sort of odd narration style, too. I've split it into two parts, but both parts are still long.

It's set in 1978. Tony is 8 years-old, and Howard around 58 years-old, I'm guessing, and Jarvis probably around 60? The MCU dates are very flimsy.

For reference: Dejeni (A raccoon), Haddie, and Kinga (a maned wolf). Demira is unsettled, and so changes form several times, but her mentioned favourites are hummingbird, otter and platypus.

Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

Characters: Tony, Pepper, Bruce, Natasha, Clint, Steve, Sam, Thor, Jane, DUM-E, JARVIS
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: some angst, mostly fluff, swearing and innuendo
Spoilers: Basically all of the Marvel Phase II movies (except for Guardians of the Galaxy)
Pairings: Tony/Pepper, Thor/Jane
Word Count 4, 212
Summary: Tony plays host to a group of anti-social superheros at the First (Possibly Annual) Avengers Christmas Party.
Author's notes: This is one story, but had to be posted in two parts, due to length. It takes place post-Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and contains heavy spoilers for each.

That was probably a little saccharine. )

Title: Reunion
Author: [livejournal.com profile] awanderingbard
Character(s)/pairings: Steve, Jaqueline Falsworth-Crichton, a slew of OCS
Fandom and/or Prompt: Captain America/MCU
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Warnings: generalized spoilers for the MCU, a bit of angst, a larger bit of a fluff
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, I just like to take them out to play.
Summary: Steve is invited to the 14th Annual Howling Commandos Family Reunion, which turns out to be a bit more overwhelming than he'd expected.
Author's Notes: Inspired by a post on tumblr quite a while back about the Howling Commandos being a big extended family and having reunions and such. I took a bit of comic book canon for Jacqueline, but mostly messed about with it to suit my purposes, including putting her in the generation after the one she canonically exists in.

Title: Put it on the List
Characters: Steve, Tony, JARVIS, dæmons
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, vague angst here and there
Spoilers: generalized for The Avengers, a few references to both Captain America movies
Pairings: very light reference to Tony/Pepper, implications of past Steve/Peggy
Word Count 5,609
Summary: Issie ensures Steve lightens up a little during a visit to Stark tower, and Steve gets some new things added to his To-Do List, and experiences some things that weren't even on it to start with.
Author's notes: Just some Steve and Tony hanging out fic, not a lot going on. I'm just working on my dynamics. Companion to and follows Baby Steps.

Set Pre-Cap 2, and probably post IM3 (it's next on my Things to Watch Now That Your Brain Isn't Sore).

For reference: Demira (A common tailorbird) and Issie (a Teddy Roosevelt terrier).

There are a few references to Howard Stark and Peggy Carter's dæmons, both of which were created by [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble. We sort of share joint custody of all the MCU dæmons, and she's graciously letting me borrow them. For reference: Takeo (a spotted hyena) and Dejeni (a raccoon).
