Sherlock: A New Normal

Title: A New Normal
Characters: Mycroft, Sherlock, Q, Mummy, *mumbled voice* several extended family OCs
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: death of a parent, underage smoking, bittersweet, very vague references to past domestic abuse
Pairings: none
Spoilers: none
Word Count 6,880
Summary: A family reunion takes place at the beach house in Nice, six months after Siger's death. Mycroft takes his first holiday in seven years, and the family tries to find a new normal.
Author's notes: Set in the Trio 'verse, post-'Carry On'.

I'm really, really, really sorry about all these OCs. I really am. I can't help myself. I'm sorry. They just sort of...showed up, and I made the mistake of letting them in, and now they're using all the hot water and eating all my food. Please send help.

This is the weird result of [livejournal.com profile] aelfgyfu_mead's comment of wanting to see the Holmes brothers in bunk beds at the beach house. I started one story, but then got distracted by this idea, and now 7,000 words later, here we are. There are bunk beds, though. I did manage to get them in.

It was perhaps time to start a new normal. )

Sherlock: Domestic Science

Title: Domestic Science
Characters: John, Sherlock, Abby, Harry, Sarah, Gladstone
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: background of a murder (no details), references to alcoholism
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 4,119
Summary: Sherlock learns what John does in a day, John learns how to make bunches, Abby learns how to form a hypothesis, and a stupid amount of fairy cakes are made.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

I think the only excuse I can offer for this is I was listening to Rumpole while playing Papa's Cupcakeria, and my brain seemed to think Sherlock + fairy cakes was a good plan.

Basically pure domestic fluff. I'm sorry.

I need to make a vast quantity of fairy cakes. May I use your kitchen? )

Title: Countdown
Characters: Sherlock, John, mind palace!Mycroft, Q, Mummy and Siger
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: a bomb situation, maybe a bit bittersweet, swearing
Pairings: John/Mary (background)
Spoilers: The Sign of Three
Word Count 2,302
Summary: Sherlock has to disarm a bomb—properly this time. Luckily, he has some help.
Author's notes: Set in the Trio 'verse.

I was really intrigued by Sherlock's mind palace in Series Three, and I thought it might be a neat challenge to see if I could write it. I ended up doing Trio verse, because that's where the ideas came from. Vaguely post-Series Three.

It will hopefully be apparent, but in case it isn't, anything in Italics is going on inside Sherlock's head.

Um, bombs probably don't work this way, but there's only so much you can Google before it starts to get weird...

Who do we have to help us? )

Sherlock: A Reception Will Follow

Title: A Reception Will Follow
Characters: basically everyone except Mycroft (but I'm sure he sent a nice gift)
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: a long string of swearing
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Molly/Alec, John/Sarah, Josh/Rupert
Word Count 6,949
Summary: The wedding is over. Time to party. And be sentimental.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

This is Part Two, Part One is here.

This is the reception. I think I've been reading too much Maeve Binchy, as there are multiple POVs in this one, too. It was the only way I could get everything I wanted to into it.

I'm very sorry about how involved this verse had become. I didn't mean to do it.

I have a pinboard of random photos that inspired me while I was writing, if anyone is curious as to that sort of thing.

Oh my God, we just got married! )

Sherlock: The Pleasure of Your Company is Requested

Title: The Pleasure of Your Company is Requested
Characters: Sarah, Molly, Alec, John, Josh, Abby, Reed, Mrs Hooper, Rupert
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Molly/Alec, John/Sarah, Josh/Rupert
Word Count 3,139
Summary: Molly and Alec are getting married. The Best Man and Matron of Honour are there to help.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

Okay, so, this is the wedding fic I've been hacking away at. It is in two parts: ceremony and reception. This part alternates between Sarah and Josh's points of view.

Part two is here

This is sort of the one thing I cannot be late for. )

Sherlock: 40 MPH

Title: 40 MPH
Characters: Alec, Reed, Sherlock, Josh, Molly
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Alec/Molly, Josh/Rupert (background)
Word Count 1,795
Summary: Alec's day out with his godson includes a run-in with Sherlock Holmes. Who turns out to like toffee and knows about dinosaurs.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

Okay, so this is a tiny story that has absolutely no plot. It is here solely to introduce Reed and Josh, because they are big players in the next fic and I felt like we should meet them rather than throwing them out there. I googled random fic prompts because nothing I was doing was working out, and I got the prompt of 'zebra' and 'toffee'. This is the result.

Josh's wedding ring looks like this. This is relevant.

Sherlock: The Supply John Watson

Title: The Supply John Watson
Characters: Lestrade, Sherlock, Gladstone, John
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, not-very-graphic description and discussion of a violent crime (case-related)
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah (background)
Word Count 2,575
Summary: Lestrade used to do John Watson's job before John Watson came along. Now that John has a newborn, Lestrade finds himself doing it again.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse, between 'Perfect' and 'Otitis Media'.

Sorry for the radio silence story-wise of late. All my plot bunnies are ADHD, epic, or uncooperative. So, here, have a little random Abby-verse fluff. Originally started to fill in the gap of Abby's first year on earth, and to give Lestrade a bit more to do in this verse.

And when Sherlock had feelings, the way he reacted to them was to make the world as angry at him as he was at it. )

Sherlock/Skyfall: Carry On

Title: Carry On
Characters: Q, Sherlock, Mycroft, Mummy, Grand-maman
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: death of a parent, angst, implications of underage smoking
Pairings: none
Spoilers: none
Word Count 4,671
Summary: The Holmes brothers deal with the sudden death of their father, and Trevelyan learns how to carry on.
Author's notes: Set in the Trio 'verse.

Most of this was written before I got my cold, but it was edited while sick, so please forgive anything weird that may be going on. It is angsty, given the subject matter, but I've tried to sprinkle some humour in here and there.

I think I've mentioned that the Holmes brothers went to Harrow in previous fics, but it turns out that I had assumed one started at Harrow at age 11, like a secondary school, but one actually starts at age 13. Which made the start of this fic, and some of the other stuff I've mentioned, not work at all. So, I have now decided, rather than do a whole bunch of rewriting, that the Holmes brothers attended Unnamed Public School (Which Bears a Strong Resemblance to Harrow).

Trevelyan is 11, Sherlock is 14, and Mycroft is 21.

It had to be bad for both Holmes Major and Minor to be summoned. )

Sherlock: Counting Ants

Title: Counting Ants
Characters: Molly, Sherlock
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: possibly a bit bittersweet, references to drug use
Spoilers: The Reichenbach Fall, All of Series Three
Pairings: John/Mary (background)
Word Count 2,326
Summary: Molly and Sherlock count ants and discuss love.
Author's notes: This is sort of three different ideas I had all rolled into one. Apparently I have Molly and Sherlock feels. I wanted to do something with Molly's storyline in Series Three, and the (somewhat) warmer relationship she and Sherlock have. It's set during His Last Vow, somewhere between the first part of the episode (which is set in June) and the second (which is set in December). I'm thinking around August or September.

Counting ants sounds like an euphemism. )

Sherlock: Odd, but Good

Title: Odd, But Good
Characters: Everyone in the Abby 'verse except for Mycroft (sorry Mycroft), plus Harry Watson
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: references to alcoholism
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah, Alec/Molly
Word Count 5,597
Summary: Abby Watson turns three, and her family come together to celebrate—including an unexpected one.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse, post- 'Exception to The Rule'. This is some fluff to set-up further events. Quite a lot of fluff, actually, how did this turn into nearly 6,000 words?

I've hesitated to write Harry, as we've never met her, but the show doesn't seem inclined to bring her onscreen, so I figured, what the heck?

We've had a hundreds and thousands incident. )

Sherlock: Moving On

Title: Moving On
Characters: John, Sherlock, Sarah, Gladstone
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: a bit bittersweet
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 3,722
Summary: John and Sarah take another huge leap in their relationship—moving in together.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse, between 'Balancing Act' and 'Decent Proposals'. I left a gap in there to accommodate Series Three if necessary, so I thought I'd start to fill it in a little.

This is actually two short fics put together, one from John's POV and one from Sarah's, though they follow one right after the other. I've labelled them with subtitles, to mark the transition.

This is my listening face. )

Sherlock Ficlets

Two ficlets, written last year for the 'Question Meme', and never cross-posted. Both set in the Abby 'verse

Title: Best Man
Characters: Sarah, Sherlock, John
Rating: G
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 411
Summary: Sherlock gives a Best Man speech. Of sorts.
Author's notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] shadowfireflame, who asked for 'What is Abbyverse Sarah's favorite memory of Sherlock?'.

I'd just like to say that I wrote this before Series Three, proving once again that I am psychic or the Sherlock writers are reading my fanfiction.

Is Sherlock okay? )

Title: Getting Things Sorted
Characters: Alec, Molly
Rating: G
Pairings: Alec/Molly
Word Count 243
Summary: Love in the exotic fruit aisle.

Sherlock: Starting Again

Title: Starting Again
Characters: John, Sherlock
Rating: R
Warnings/Triggers: much cursing, a few references to PTSD
Pairings: John/Mary (mentioned)
Spoilers: The Empty Hearse
Word Count 2,389
Summary: John and Sherlock have a heart to heart.
Author's notes: I've seen a few blog posts around about how Sherlock never actually explains to John why he pretended to be dead. I have to confess that I was too involved in the episode to notice until it was pointed out, but now that I've realized that, I decided to give writing a scene where Sherlock explains a go. I'm sure it's been done before, but I thought it would be a good exercise in points of view. I wanted to bridge the gap between where we see their relationship at the end of 'The Empty Hearse' and where it's at by the beginning of 'The Sign of Three'.

As is wont to happen, due to the force of Sherlock's personality, this became more about him than I had originally intended, but I've tried to at least let John be in control of the conversation, and have him stand his ground until he's satisfied.

Can I put out the fire first, or is it urgent? )

Sherlock: Proper Care

Title: Proper Care
Characters: Sherlock, John, Sarah, Abby
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: burn injuries
Pairings: John/Sarah, Molly/Alec (mentioned)
Word Count 4,632
Summary: Sherlock finds himself sofa-ridden and a bit silly, and is cared for by all three Dr Watsons—John, Sarah, and Abby.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

This story is about the third attempt I've made to tell it. I think it wanders a bit, but every time I tried to get it on track, it just got more wandering. So, I have decided I am pleased with it, and to let it be. It's a bit of an attempt to nudge Abby Verse!Sherlock to be a bit more compliant with Series Three!Sherlock, and to contrast a little with 'The Voice in Counterpoint', which takes place at roughly the same time a year earlier.

Now that I have seen all of Series Three, I have decided just to go with the theory that 'John married Sarah and therefore Series Three didn't happen like that', rather than trying to work it in to what I have here. John's choice of partner would have a significant change on how events went down, so I am going with that. Some events probably still happened, but in a different way, and I'm going to carry on with my plans for this verse, as they still work.

All a recipe to not make him feel very well. )

Sherlock/Skyfall: A Way Out

Title: A Way Out
Characters: Q, Sherlock, Mycroft, Bond
Rating: R
Warnings/Triggers: language, angst
Pairings: John/Mary (background)
Spoilers: His Last Vow, The Reichenbach Fall, Skyfall
Word Count 2,302
Summary: Q and Sherlock say goodbye. But maybe not forever.
Author's notes: Set in the Trio 'verse.

I'm sorry for my obsessive need to write Sherlock from Q's point of view. I had to get this out of my system, apparently. 90% was written in one sitting. Apologies for any rough patches. Also, apologies for the vague summary, I didn't want to spoil.

Because they are so ingrained in this verse, I'm keeping my Holmes parents my OC ones.

This is relatively angsty, for me. Like, a good eight on the Bard Scale of Angstyness, but probably much lower on a general scale.

Hello, Mr Holmes. I'm the Quartermaster. )

Title: The Place Where the Trees Kiss the Water
Characters: Molly Hooper, Eleven, Sherlock (briefly)
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: References to The Reichenbach Fall,
Pairings: none
Word Count 632
Summary: The madman with a box comes back to take Molly for another spin.
Author's notes: Moving my [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo stuff over.

This is a sequel to a story I wrote for there last year, Universal Truths. There are a few references to it, so it might make more sense if you've read that, but I don't think anyone will be lost without having done so.

Sherlock: Someone On Your Side

Title: Someone On Your Side
Characters: Sherlock, John, Mary
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: someone's death from cancer, a bit of medical humour
Pairings: John/Mary
Spoilers: The Sign of Three
Word Count 2,670
Summary: When Sherlock attends a funeral reception for an old mentor, John takes the opportunity to further his education in being human.
Author's notes: Canon story! Yay! This is a story I've had in my head for a while, but it seemed appropriate for Series Three Sherlock to be dealing with. It's a chance for me to test out Series Three voices.

Despite the summary, it's more bittersweet than angsty.

Because of new canon, a previous story of mine, 'After the Funeral', no longer works for a main verse story, and so Sherlock says something contradictory in this story to something in that story. Just in case anyone has read both and is confused.

Title: Back to Normal
Characters: Q, Mycroft, Sherlock, Mrs Hudson, John
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: some language
Pairings: none
Spoilers: The Empty Hearse
Word Count 4,245
Summary: Sherlock Holmes returns. Q helps him get his life back.
Author's notes: Set in the Trio 'verse, filling in the gap between "The Roles We Play" and "Happy Birthday"

First story of 2014! It's AU. I promise I will write something canon. Soon. Just filling in the gap in the verse, here.

Title: Exception to a Rule
Characters: Alec, Molly
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Pairings: Alec/Molly
Word Count 1,614
Summary: Alec has a question to ask which he doesn't quite accomplished as planned, but Molly has the most definite answer she's ever given.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse. OMG, so much fluff that I think I blushed while writing it. Seriously.

Last story of 2013! I have ended on a very fluffy note, which seems a good cap to this year's theme. Thanks to everyone who read and commented on the many, many stories I posted this year, and egged me on and generally supported me. Happy New Year, and Happy Sherlock Series Three!

Title: A Faulty Radar For Fun
Characters: Sherlock, John, Lestrade, Molly, Gladstone
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: language, off-screen sexytimes and banter about same, very vague references to a body
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah, Alec/Molly (background in both cases)
Word Count 2, 820
Summary: Sherlock Holmes turns 40 and celebrates it exactly as he wants to.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse, but only canon characters appear.

I'm very sorry about all the stories I'm posting of late, I'm just trying to get what I can posted before Series Three comes along and announces that John hates the name Abby and never wants children, or something.

So, feeling depressed yet? )
