I don't--I don't know? I think it might be left over from the vastly different, sillier first draft of this where Sherlock was behaving (to John) completely out of character and I liked it so I snagged it for this.
Interesting! I really liked that line because it gave off a subtle, sinister vibe, as though perhaps Sherlock himself could become consumed by this so-called "default" personality. It worried me, especially if that default personality wasn't going to be a good one to have. Sherlock's growth through the two seasons we've seen has been leading him to be a softer, more personable (or at least thoughtful) person, and the idea of him getting stuck in some pre-state of being before he gets to that level is kind of frightening. Maybe he could become a killer, given the right phase of being "stuck."
