Ha, my 24 year old daughter has autism and some days I can empathize with John, for sure!! I sometimes think there's not enough patience in the world for me to pull from when my daughter is really on a tear. And strangely enough, watching how John 'handles' Sherlock in both fanfics and the BBC series helps calm ME down and give me fresh spirit to deal with my daughter. My daughter is very literal, very obsessive concerning a very narrow list of topics and finds anything else BORING and beneath her notice; she is volatile and throws tantrums and expects me to be on hand pretty much instantly if she requires or desires my presence, ha; so yeah, maybe part of why I enjoy Sherlock so much is because I can relate to both characters in some way!
