So John and Sherlock share custody of Gladstone? I bet Sarah sometimes thinks that she shares custody of John with Sherlock. She probably says so, too.
Ha! I'm sure she does. I have this idea that there's rules about how long John is allowed to be away from home, and how often he has to at least call to check in. And then on the other side of that, John has Sherlock telling him he never sees him.
I liked the idea of Gladstone staying being a condition of John moving back into Baker Street (I have half a fic of how John acquired him, so I wanted to leave room there in case I finish it), and then both Gladstone and Sherlock actually taking to each other enough to miss the other if separated for too long. I like to think that Gladstone reminds Sherlock to eat and left the house by demanding to eat and leave the house.
Yes! I read these fics where Sherlock is terribly jealous, but the man talks to John when he isn't even home and sometimes gets annoyed with him when he is; he could function perfectly well if John moved out! As long as John came by often enough.
That's my theory too. But there's a lot of interpretation of Sherlock being jealous of Sarah during TBB, too. I only see him annoyed that she's interfering in the case. Otherwise, he actually seems to find her tolerable. Of course, I don't ship John and Sherlock, so perhaps I have a slightly less skewed version of events. :-D
