I think Mrs. Hudson was perhaps not as trusting as Q thought, but sized him up accurately as not a danger (which would include reporters at this time).
Yeah, I definitely think Mrs Hudson is more canny than she'd like you to think. She did get her husband killed, after all. Or at least asked Sherlock to help stop whatever it was he was doing. And she kept the mobile safe even when CIA people were mistreating her. She's more badass than she gets credit for. :-)
