I would say he was apathetic more than disrespectful toward human life, but yes, that's true. I'd really love to know what it is about John in particular that gets through to him. Presumably John isn't the first person to think of saying 'hey, stop that', so there has to be some reason that he makes Sherlock listen.
I'm guessing Moriarty's Watson would only exacerbate his evil.
I totally agree with this, but it's funny because I used to see so much fanfic on tumblr as I scrolled down my dash about Moran and Moriarty where Seb is sorting of reigning Jim in. I love how people try to justify a character who has yet to appear on screen. And I love how the three main ships are a man who is probably asexual and a man who is pretty vocal about being straight, two men who have never met on screen, and two men, one of whom doesn't officially exist.
I stopped following people on tumblr who were posting Sherlock spoilers, but before I did, there was some speculation that Tomi May might have been cast. He tweeted something about going to a read through that was quickly deleted, and there was a general agreement that he looked like a Sebastian Moran. But nothing official, as far I as know.
