Couples Playing:
Alec and Molly
John and Sarah
Siger and Metrodora
Alec and Molly
How often do they fight?
Very rarely. Alec is an extremely even-tempered man, and he has training in problem resolving. He and Molly usually work things out before it becomes too much of an issue. However, when they do fight, it is very loud, but quickly over and resolved.
What do they do when they’re away from each other?
Should they find themselves alone in the flat, Alec watches horror movies and Molly puts on 90's girlband music and dances, both things the other find somewhat off-putting (Alec doesn't mind the dancing, he just doesn't like the music).
Nicknames for each other?
Just Molls and Alec, really. Maybe a few terms of endearment, mostly on Alec's part. Alec's Italian step-grandmother called him 'Ricci'(curly) and so the family sometimes does as well, and Molly uses it to bother him.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner?
Alec in the beginning, now they split.
Who steals the covers at night?
Molly. She moves around a lot and gets herself cocooned up, and tugs them back if Alec tries to get some for himself.
What would they get each other for gifts?
Alec is very much 'I saw this in a shop and I thought you'd like it' type gift giver. Little figurines or sweets or jewellery or trinkets. Molly gets very nervous about gift giving, and changes her mind about seven times before settling on something. Clothes or cooking type things--books, pots, utensils, ingredients.
Who swears more?
Molly, surprisingly. Alec has to watch his language all day. Molly has two brothers. Her vocabulary is impressive.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?
Drop everything to get there and see that they're okay, and stay put and take care of them until they're well, or make sure that someone is there to take care of them.
Who started the relationship?
Alec made every first move in the relationship, worrying that he was being too forceful because Molly was seriously not picking up on any hints. Thus his repeated use of 'is that okay?' and 'I'm sorry'.
Toughest decision they've made?
Umm...come back to me, I haven't written that far ahead yet.
John and Sarah
How often do they fight?
Pretty regularly in the beginning as they attempted to sort out John's involvement with Sherlock and when and when not it was appropriate and how often he needed to check in or come home. Now they tend to banter their arguments out when there's a problem instead of fighting. When they do fight, they usually come to a point when they both burst out laughing, and then sort it out.
What do they do when they’re away from each other?
John chases after Sherlock, or takes care of Abby. Sarah entertains herself and takes care of Abby.
Nicknames for each other?
There is a sort of inside joke of Sarah calling John 'James' due to her mother very confidently calling him that for the first several months of their relationship. Sarah usually uses it after speaking with her mother or them visiting. John calls her 'Steve' in return.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner?
They've always split everything. Sarah was very insistent about that.
Who steals the covers at night?
John doesn't steal blankets, but when he makes the bed, the hospital corners are so crisp that Sarah practically has to dig her way into the sheets and is pinned there until she can wiggle them loose. John tucks them back in before he goes to bed, and they share their personally preferred level of tight sheets equally.
What would they get each other for gifts?
Books, probably--historical romance or a chic lit type thing for Sarah, who likes fluff when she reads, and non-fiction stuff and thrillers for John, who likes to think when he reads.
Who swears more?
John. He was in the army.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?
Do their best to treat whatever the injury was, and make sure they get the appropriate treatment at a care facility if necessary. Make sure Sherlock has someone restraining him if he's on the warpath. Make sure someone is with Abby. Worry quietly.
Who started the relationship?
Sarah made the least subtle first move in history. Even she accepts that.
Toughest decision they've made?
Trying for a child. They were both happy without children, but they both wanted children, and they were worried about the danger of John's work, and Sarah's being a somewhat older mum. In the end, they didn't really try for a baby so much as stop using things to prevent a baby and let nature do what it wanted. It is not something they've regretted.
Siger and Metrodora
How often do they fight?
There is no fighting. There is intelligent, if somewhat heated discussion, wherein Dora explains why Siger is wrong, and Siger accepts this as the truth.
What do they do when they’re away from each other?
They are away far more often than they are together. Siger works, pretty much exclusively, and Dora comes up with projects to keep herself busy, and raises her boys. They are both very happy with this arrangement.
Nicknames for each other?
Siger and Dora. Maybe 'dear' if they are being patronizing.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner?
Siger. It was expected at the time they were dating.
Who steals the covers at night?
Siger, when he does sleep, is a cover hog. He has his own blanket folded over a chair that he is expected to use if he comes to bed.
What would they get each other for gifts?
Siger has jewellery made for Dora by the family jeweller. He has very good taste and an excellent sense of what Dora likes (basically anything unusual or weird). Dora gives cuff links and tie pins, and things to keep him entertained on the numerous trains he takes.
Who swears more?
They swear about equally in frequency, but Siger favours short, to the point cursing and Dora prefers long torrents of French. The boys knew far more French swear words than English ones until they got to public school.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?
Siger would likely buy her flowers to cheer her up, and just mostly ignore her until she was well, whereupon he would do something very affectionate like tell her he loves her. If possible, correct the thing that made her hurt. It not possible, still attempt to correct the thing that made her hurt.
Dora would quickly deal with the emergency, see that everything is copacetic in all areas and make sure he actually rested until he was well again.
Who started the relationship?
Siger is very much aware that he made the first moves, but that somehow Dora made him do it.
Toughest decision they've made?
Sorting out where they were going to live. Dora doesn't like London. Siger only likes London. There was a big ass house in the country unoccupied, which Dora likes very much and Siger doesn't. Siger wasn't sure if he could actually live with someone and see them everyday, which yes, he understood he agreed to when they got married, but really it was more of a case of him wanting her to marry him than him wanting to marry her (yes, there is a difference). In the end, they were both far happier splitting their time between several homes and spending time with each other until they'd had enough and it was time to spent time apart again.
