My favourite thing that I've ever written is 'Acceptably Close to Love', which is a story in the Trio verse that explores how Mrs and Mr Holmes (my versions, created before Series Three) met and fell in love with each other. It essentially gave me a chance to write Sherlock in love and Sherlock as a dad, which I could never do with canon Sherlock (even though, shhh, sometimes I'd like to). I'm also very pleased with how my three-year old Sherlock came out.
The story I'm most proud of, though, is 'Lost for Words', because I think it's the first multi-chapter story I've written where I told myself that I was going to finish it, and just hacked away until I did, even when I was stuck. I lost three chapters, but I got it done, and it's been well-received, and I'm very proud of it.

Date: 2014-01-29 05:45 am (UTC)I like them all for different reasons, but I think my favourite storyteller is Kate Morton. I am a huge fan of the way she weaves various time periods and generations together, so you never know what's going to happen until the end. She's amazing.

Date: 2014-01-29 03:01 pm (UTC)In terms of least favourite to write...I would have said Sherlock, but I think I've got the hang of him, now. I used to have a hard time not just writing everything he's noticing, and finding the right balance between telling the story but also having his deductions come in. I've sort of settled on showing he's still deducing through dialogue, commenting on something, or narration, noting something, rather than a constant onslaught of facts. Even though I think that's what it must be like in his brain. I'd never want to do 1st person POV with him.
In other fandoms, I also find Bond hard to write, partly for the same reason as Sherlock, and partly because he's a bit darker than I usually narrate for.
As for favourite characters to write, I do love Molly a lot. I find her quite easy to write for. I also enjoy Lestrade and John, though if I'm not careful, they sound like each other. Q is my go to narrator in my Trio verse, because he's the non-deducing brother, so he's free to tell a story without so many facts. I'd say, of everyone, I enjoy writing John the most. I love doctors, and he's narrated the majority of my stories, so I'm very comfortable with him now.
I also enjoy writing Abby, because I love to write kids. And, in other fandoms, Harry Dresden is one of my favourite narrators ever.

Date: 2014-01-29 10:40 pm (UTC)ETA: By the way, pingbot alerted me to a comment you made with a rec for my stories in it. I didn't want to barge into someone else's journal to thank you, so I'll do it here. Thank you! :-D
