I also love how Sarah compares the way Sherlock handles Molly to the way he handles Abby. He does his best to be sweet to them both.
I think for Sherlock, in this verse at least, Molly is sort of a little sister he wants to protect. Especially now that she's just a friend, and not in love with him. It's very much a situation of 'I can tease her and annoy her and bother her, but God help you if you even think about hurting her'.
