Maybe he's another actor who needs some reassurance from the director that they can see them emoting, no big gestures necessary.
I think he's more aware of that then other people I've seen. But I think he has a sort of 'angry mode' that he defaults to when he needs to yell. Hee, maybe he's just not used to yelling, and doesn't know what level to do it at.
