I sort of think Thor was one of those kids who knows the scary stories can't be real, but just in case, he's going to have a look under the bed before he goes to sleep. Maybe with a sword. And then still listens to the stories anyway, because he is Brave.
I imagine Thor is more used to stories like "And then the enemy charged at the hero who fought mightily" so he's already to be Brave and fight. Meanwhile, Loki tells him stories like, "And then the hero thought everything was okay but the enemy had disguised himself as a chair and waited until the hero wasn't looking and put something in the hero's bath to make all his skin fall off the next time he used it." And Thor's all like, "That...that can happen?! No....right?"
