Date: 2014-08-11 05:21 am (UTC)Yeah. I do this with long stories especially. There's a stage when you've read it over so much that it's just words and you feel like every plot point is being broadcasted and the mystery doesn't work and it's all stupid. Then you think, well, maybe it's okay. Then you go 'no, this is good. I like this'. Then you post it before you start to question yourself again.

Date: 2014-08-11 05:24 am (UTC)I am starting to prefer writing long stories. They feel more...eh, measured? Deliberate? As opposed to oneshots, which are great, but they don't have that seasoned taste of writer's tears in their every word. THE PAIN MAKES LONG!FICS GREAT. Yes.
Boo, questioning self. Worst part of the writing game, always. :p

Date: 2014-08-11 05:35 am (UTC)And hee! Ah, word counts. The first book I ever tried to write, I started when I was twelve, and I agonized over getting each chapter to at least 1,000 words. Nowadays, 5,000 words sometimes breeze past me, and I'm like, "WHAT!? THE CHARACTERS ONLY WENT OUT TO EAT A SANDWICH. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN I DON'T UNDERSTAND."
Those are the good days, of course.
And of course people enjoy letting you take their time. Tay time is good time.

And of course people enjoy letting you take their time. Tay time is good time.
Aww, thanks! I'm off to bed, but it's nice to see you around these parts again. :D G'night!
