dustlines wrote a meme response with a steampunk!Sherlock with clockwork eyes. And the image of it stuck in my head, and I wanted to make a Poser picture of it, but I ran into a few problems of the impossibility of morphing Benedict's face, and my migraines making it hard to stare at a screen to meticulously inch dials around. But I've recently gotten back into Poser and, for some reason, everything I needed to make the image in my head has been on sale of late, so I actually made the picture.
For those who don't know about Poser, it's 3d modeling programme that allows you to put together textured figures that other people create, and use dials and tools to pose them and make scenes. It's great for someone like me, who doesn't have much in the way of drawing skills, because it's mostly just a question of having patience and an idea, and I can handle the small amount of postwork required (going into a graphics programme and putting rendered pieces together and bumping up contrast or colour or adding a background or whatever). There are also what are called 'nodes' within the programme that allow you to add reflections or depth to the textures, and it's quite a learning curve and I enjoy teaching myself things.
Anyway, some kind person out there basically made a Benedict Cumberbatch morph for a figure that I owned. It's not dead on, but it's very close, and it was 50% off, so I snagged it. There was also a fifty percent off sale on a steampunk character with clockwork eyes, so I snagged that, too, and then I added some extra gears in myself.

I'd like to think this is what steampunk!Sherlock looks like underneath a sort of glass regular sclera and iris he puts over it to hide them, like contact lenses. Which would then look like thisish:

Even in this day and age, people aren't prone to replacing both eyes without overwhelming need -- an injury, a disability, special work purposes, or wanting to disappear -- and yet when Lestrade introduces Sherlock Holmes to Molly in an effort to see if he will work with her, she catches the glint of moonshine iron in Sherlock's left eye and Aztec gold in the other: tiny, clockwork gears spinning in Sherlock's pupils as he looks her up and down impassively.
She feels shrunken under that inhuman gaze, dissected like the corpses on her trays, the gears in Sherlock's eyes clicking like hands on a clock when he says, as though expressing vague satisfaction with the weather, "you'll do" and turns on his heel.
"Come with me," the man without his own eyes says, voice cut and low, carved out by a lifetime of tobacco abuse, and, heaven help her, Molly follows the tail end of his coat through the swinging door, forgetting somewhere along the way that she has ever had the option of looking away.
