John Watson

What they are like when they're drunk: John doesn't get properly pissed too, too often. Given the family history with Harry, and his father's tendency to drink a lot if not to excess, John usually keeps himself limited to pleasantly buzzed, during which he gets rather happy and silly and giggly. When he does get properly pissed, he tends to get quite blokeish and obnoxious, and has more of a tendency to get into a fight rather than break one up.
Tattoos/scars/birthmarks: He has a pretty nasty scar on his left shoulder from being shot and the subsequent surgery to remove it and then again to clean out the infection that followed. It's basically a mess. He has a few other minor scars from various case-induced injuries, and a small stork bite on the nape of his neck that, despite not being genetic, Abby seems to have inherited.
Frivolous thing that makes them really happy: It's debatable how frivolous it is, but Abby laughing is pretty much the best thing in the world.
Stupid thing that makes them really annoyed: Any time someone tries to defibrillate a flatline on telly. You can't shock a flatline!
Special skills: Is a very crack shot, even using his non-dominant hand, and is pretty good at hand-to-hand combat as well. Apparently he's not a bad author, judging from the reception his column and blog get, but he attributes that more to Sherlock's eccentricities being entertaining to read about than his own ability to write about them. He was an excellent surgeon with a super steady hand, but the shoulder wound messed up his ability to operate with the same degree of skill. He remains a good trauma doctor. He's also a decent cook, and has picked up some deduction skills from his time with Sherlock.
Prized possession(s): John has a quilt his Nan made him when he went off to medical school. It's comprised of patches of various tartans, and survived med school, basic training, several tours in the army, and life at Baker Street. Abby has it in her room now, on the rocking chair, and they put it over their laps before bedtime, when she's having her story read to her.
Medical conditions Dodgy shoulder with a tendency to dislocate, PTSD and related anxiety, which has improved since he did cognitive behaviour therapy with Ella during The Hiatus. He still has nightmares and panic attacks, but not as often and he's able to calm himself down much faster.
Comfort food/activity/object: A combination of Sarah, Gladstone, and beans on toast are his main sources of comfort if he's upset. Any one of the three will do.
