I also feel like my Word Fairy gets bored easily with sticking to one theme for too long.
I think the thing you aren't working on always looks shinier because you haven't gotten to the hard part of writing it yet, so when you're in the middle of the hard part of the story you're always thinking something else would be easier to write.
