Random Fun Memeage

Found this way back in my journal and decided it might be fun to do again. I used a randomizer on the list, so I didn't know who was getting which questions.
Choose 10 characters...
1. Sarah Sawyer (Sherlock)
2. Howard Stark (MCU)
3. Alec Thornton (Sherlock)
4. Martin Crieff (Cabin Pressure)
5. Harry Dresden (Dresden Files TV)
6. Peggy Carter (MCU)
7. Merlin (Merlin)
8. Pepper Potts (MCU)
9. Edwin Jarvis (MCU)
10. Q [Trevelyan Holmes] (Skyfall/Sherlock)
Answer the following questions...
1. Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?
Evens: Howard Stark, Martin Crieff, Peggy Carter, Pepper Potts, Q
Leader: Howard, because he has the money
Lancer: Pepper, because she has the organizational skills
Big Guy: Peggy, because she has the ninja moves
Smart Guy: Q, because he has the keyboard
The Chick: Martin, because he has...a...microwave and can make snacks, I guess
Odds: Sarah Sawyer, Alec Thornton, Harry Dresden, Merlin, Edwin Jarvis
Leader: Sarah; she's used to bossing people around
Lancer: Alec; he's used to commanding a group (of children, but that's basically what's going on here)
Big Guy: Merlin; he's used to throwing magic around haphazardly
Smart Guy: Harry; he's used to finding a clever way out of a crisis
The Chick: Jarvis; he's used to cautioning people about their actions. And making snacks.
Swappers: I think I'd swap Howard and Merlin, and give Peggy the leader role in her group, Merlin the Big Guy role, and put Howard in the Smart Guy role in the other group, and put Harry as the Big Guy. No good could come of having Howard Stark and Q working together.
2. Gender-swap 5 (Harry Dresden), 8 (Pepper Potts) and 10 (Q). Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?
To be honest, I can think of very little reason why one of these people might not work as the opposite sex with very little adjustment. Pepper is already basically Tony's Jarvis, so swapping her into a man wouldn't change much (except for maybe the love interest part, which actually might change Tony's arc more than Pepper's). Q might have a little more protection from older brothers if he were a girl than he does now, but the rest of his life would be the same. Harry wouldn't change at all, I don't think. Except him and Murphy's dynamics as best girl-friends would be kind of interesting, in a good way.
3. Compare the matchups of 5 (Harry Dresden) & 8 (Pepper Potts) and 2 (Howard Stark) &; 9 (Edwin Jarvis). (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?
Harry and Pepper: I can actually see this totally working. Harry is a surprisingly uncomplicated man, magic aside, and his simple lifestyle might appeal to Pepper. I could see him making her spaghetti and them vegging out on the couch after Pepper gets off work, and her listening to him talking about the weirdness of his day. I think they would have a nice, casual, not too passionate but pleasant relationship.
Howard and Jarvis: There's, like, a 100% chance this fanfic already exists. Considering they are the Tony and Pepper of their day, it's quite possible this relationship might work, but I feel like it wouldn't. I feel like Jarvis would find a relationship with his employer very inappropriate, regardless of feelings, and Howard might have fun trying to loosen him up a little, but would eventually get bored once he did. I don't think either of them would get out of the relationship would they would need in a relationship.
4. 7 (Merlin) becomes 5's (Harry) boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?
Awesome. These two would totally get on. Harry might be a bit resentful of the big-eared clumsy kid (who is allegedly the Chosen One, man the Council would be totally pissed to find out what a mess Merlin actually was) bossing him around, but I think they would work well together, and have similar temperaments. Bob and Gaius would lament letting the two of them work on anything together, but they would get shit done. If a bit random and haphazardly.
5. 1 (Sarah) finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's (Peggy) continuity. As far as anyone other than 1 or 6 is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 1 be presumed to have had in 6's story, and could they fit in without going wonky?
I could see Sarah being a doctor at the SSR or S.H.I.E.L.D, and being a kind of sister-in-arms to Peggy, as British girls in a man's world. They would respect one another, and probably go to each other for advice. I don't think it would be hard for Sarah to fit in the 'verse at all. Peggy would probably enjoy having her around, actually.
6. 3 (Alec) and 7 (Merlin) get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?
1. Evil people stopping messing around in their loved ones' lives.
2. Imperious twats taking it a little easier on their employees.
3. A nice day off without imperious twats horning in on it.
7. 6 (Peggy) and 3 (Alec) are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 1 (Sarah). They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 1 survive? How?
I'm guessing Sarah would only survive based on Sherlock and John's intervention on her behalf. Alec isn't much of a threat, but Peggy certainly would be. Molly might be able to throw herself in front of Sarah to try to dissuade Alec, but even then, Peggy would still be a threat. I'd say it would be even odds on whether she would succeed, but Sherlock and John would certainly give her a run for her money. John especially would be using all his military prowess to keep Sarah safe.
8. 1 (Sarah), 6 (Peggy), 7 (Merlin) and 9 (Jarvis) must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?
Jarvis has the planning totally in hand. He's also asked Mr Stark for a generous donation to the cause, and Peggy is using that for presents. Sarah and Merlin are on top of decorations. Merlin can probably transfigure himself into a very convincing Father Christmas, and the kids are going to have a blast.
9. Your team is 7 (Merlin), 4 (Martin) & 9 (Jarvis). The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?
Um...Can I have Jarvis do all three? Okay...so...of the three, I'd say Jarvis probably has the most social skills. Merlin can handle the physical challenge with his magic. So, I guess I'd leave Martin with the mental challenge? And hope it was about aeroplanes.
10. 3 (Alec) and 10 (Q) are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?
Alec and Q work fine together. Alec gets along with everyone, and Q is a pretty good team leader. So long as the technology ban applies to transportation only and Q could still use his laptop, he might be okay with travelling, though I anticipate Alec would have to drag him around a little as they made each stage of the journey. I think it's a very reasonable goal for the two of them to accomplish, though both of them would be very happy to get home at the end of it, and Q would never leave the country again.

Date: 2015-05-10 01:48 am (UTC)God speed. Hopefully you'll get Season 4 Martin and not Season 1 Martin.
1 (Sarah) finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's (Peggy) continuity.
Oh man. I want this to be a crack crossover.

Date: 2015-05-10 02:29 am (UTC)Yes, a SwissAir Martin, who's been pretending to be Douglas for awhile and has a little more confidence in himself.
Oh man. I want this to be a crack crossover.
Me too. Because I can so see Peggy and Sarah having lunch in the Automat and bad guys busting in and Peggy taking care of them, and Sarah just casually picking up and tray and clocking someone with it, no big deal.
I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to move Sherlock back to the 1940's. John could have been hurt in WWII. Mycroft probably runs the SSR in the background. Sherlock might be a consultant. Oh, man, Molly Hooper could be a mousy scientist at the SSR and Howard Stark would have the best time flustering her.

Also the idea of Peggy, Sarah, and Molly all teaming up to solve crime is quite awesome. And I'd kill to see what sort of dynamic Sherlock and Howard would have. They're both geniuses but in such weirdly different ways.
