Okay, you've inspired me. JJ ends up with a woman named Tess. She's a wildlife photographer. Her daemon is possibly a groundhog named Mati (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338265/). They meet when she stops to help JJ rescue some kittens in the street, and then tracks him down to get his permission to use the photographs she took. I'm not sure if they get married, or just live together, but that's his life partner.
Tess: Hi, I was at this shelter the other day, with a man who had a fedora full of kittens? He's about this tall, and has a cute smile and nice eyes. Steve: I'm almost positive you must be talking about my son. Tess: Oh! Well... you probably have his phone number then.
