That's interesting! I was going to say I think there are characters on Miss S that only go by one syllable names (they are the ones who tell her not to use honorifics with them), but looking them up on IMDB, I see that they are listed as 'Lao Song' and 'Xiao Tan', and I realize because of your comment above here that those are 'Big Song' and 'Little Tan', so I wonder if there's a joke or nuance there that isn't carried over into English. Though I know both of those words are also surnames (maybe in different tones?), so perhaps its just a coincidence or a layer of pun, too. The subtitles refer to them as 'Song' and 'Tan' only, though.
