I'm glad your stories had happy endings! We had a cat fall out a first-floor window; he panicked and vanished, and it was a miserable hour or two when we couldn't find the poor scared boy. He reappeared at a window, and he was so scared he didn't want anyone to approach, but I finally managed to talk him down.
Same scared boy also disappeared when we moved here, and we thought he must have made it outside. We finally found him in a mountain of stuffed animals; he'd climbed in and disappeared completely without any falling to leave a signal he was there! We were going to have to tell then-Small Child (now very adult Progeny) very soon if we didn't find him, and I was kind of losing it.
