We had Ascii escape the yard once and end up in a neighbour's pool very early in the morning. Thankfully the cover was on, as Scotties can't swim very well/at all and she was wet, but fine, but she was gone for a good two or three hours before the very irate neighbour brought her around the front of his house and I spotted her. We also had Puzzle end up in our composter in our backyard and we thought she'd escaped the yard, but I heard her barking in there and, even though my mum insisted there was no possible way she could be inside there, I opened the door and she trotted out with a bagel in her mouth. Neither of them were at all chagrinned by their adventures. Then there was Shilling who got out of the yard and immediately came to the front door to bark apologetically about it. He was also very apologetic about both Ascii and Puzzle's escapades, like he'd told them not to do it but he couldn't stop them or something, lol.
I also had to help my brother's ex find a cat she thought had escaped the apartment when he'd gone out, but after a couple of hours of searching, we found in a drawer in their bedroom. He'd crawled into the top one, down out the back and to the next one down which was closed, so we didn't think to look there until I heard him meowing.
Animal ownership is stressful sometimes, but thankfully rewarding as well.
