Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

Definitely more. I've always written fanfic, to get the ideas out, but never finished anything before. When I ran across dresdenflashfic, which had just opened, I thought, 'well, they would be short, I could probably do that'. So, with great trepidation, I wrote and posted and was surprised to find that nobody flamed me. I've done a fic for every challenge there since and it gave me confidence to write different stories and fandoms.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2007?

Harry/Murphy. I've never shipped any couple before. I've just never felt like there were two people who I really, really wanted to see together. I think featherjean's Harry/Murphy stuff got me on to the idea and then I read the books and I loved that quirky, flirty relationship they have and I decided they were awesome together. Oddly enough, in the book universe, I favour Susan and Harry more than Murphy and Harry. Go figure.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

Hmmm. I think The Right Shoes is my favourite. I feel like I managed to get what I wanted to say out without it being very long and it had the right tone and feel. It ended up exactly like I wanted it to be.

What's your least favorite story of the year, regardless of the reviews it got (or didn't get)?

The Other Wizard. It was the second Dresden story I wrote and I'm not pleased with it. I don't think I have the hang of Harry's voice yet and it goes on longer than it needed to. I think I've improved since then.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

Family Dynamics was a bit of a risk, since it was AU, in the future, with a partner who wasn't Murphy. I was fully expecting to get complaints about it and people seemed to really like it and all the subsequent stories that have stemmed from it. I am immensely pleased about that. Even Addicted, which I threw together at the last minute for a flashfic challenge and posted with my eyes closed and wincing as I pressed post. Most of the comments I got for that was 'I like Harry/Murphy better, but I like Miranda too', which is so awesome. Dresden fans rock.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
One of my New Year's resolutions is to write more of the original stories I have in my head down, in addition to fanfic. I'd also like to try and practice my Dresden book!verse voice and do some more stuff for Firefly and the SGs.
