Dear anonymous people,

Thank you for commenting on my stories to inform me about Xanax. I was unaware that I could buy it online. I am now informed. You can stop commenting about it. If I ever choose to change my anxiety medication, I assure you, I will consider Xanax most seriously as an option. For now, I am happy with my pretty blue Paxil pills.

Also, I am not interested in porn of any kind at this moment. Not sailor moon porn, Korean porn, Chinese porn, or any other kind of porn you might wish to inform me about. Again, I assure you that if I am ever in need of porn, you will be the first commenter I go to.

Finally, I appreciate your ardour for me, I'm sure it would be reciprocated if I actually knew who you were. You are clearly fond enough of me to follow me from Greatestjournal, where I spent many happy days deleting your comments from the entries of fictional characters I was RPGing. You are also obviously concerned with my mental health and entertainment, I appreciate that. However, I can't return the love, since you have no name or journal account. Please, stop this worship from afar. It will only end in tears.

Sincerely,
Taylor

unfortunately I had a similar problem a few months back. It's easy to switch over at the manage comments settings page

You know, I had a similar problem, but it only ever affected me on GJ and once or twice on Scribbld. It's on the most random entries, too.

Dude. *struggles not to laugh*

Yeah, it's time to turn off the anonymous commenting.

I've got it now, thanks. It's one of those immensely simple solutions that never occurs to you, lol. :D

Yeah, it's really bad at GJ, but I've never had it here until recently. They've all been on the Hot Potato story I wrote for you, too. I blame you! *points accusingly* ;-)

Yep, I'm all over that, now. It didn't occur to me until [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper mentioned it. One of those 'it hurts when I do this' ' well stop doing that' solutions. :)

LOL! I get those periodically, and I've found that they tend to come on the entries with some combination of: the most comments, the most incoming links, and/or subject matter which might be expected to turn up on a search engine result, even if the person searching isn't necessarily a fan. :) My post dissecting the FanLib TOS is the most popular to the spammers, but the one about gay sheep gets a few, and occasionally the one about what jerks the people in Texas were to their Muslim neighbors will get one.

It hasn't gotten bad enough yet that I've turned off anon. commenting. I want anyone to be able to read and comment, whether they have a journal or not. Hopefully that'll keep working for me. [crossed fingers]

Angie
