Title: Odd, But Good
Characters: Everyone in the Abby 'verse except for Mycroft (sorry Mycroft), plus Harry Watson
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: references to alcoholism
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah, Alec/Molly
Word Count 5,597
Summary: Abby Watson turns three, and her family come together to celebrate—including an unexpected one.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse, post- 'Exception to The Rule'. This is some fluff to set-up further events. Quite a lot of fluff, actually, how did this turn into nearly 6,000 words?

I've hesitated to write Harry, as we've never met her, but the show doesn't seem inclined to bring her onscreen, so I figured, what the heck?

We've had a hundreds and thousands incident. )

Title: Proper Care
Characters: Sherlock, John, Sarah, Abby
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: burn injuries
Pairings: John/Sarah, Molly/Alec (mentioned)
Word Count 4,632
Summary: Sherlock finds himself sofa-ridden and a bit silly, and is cared for by all three Dr Watsons—John, Sarah, and Abby.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'verse.

This story is about the third attempt I've made to tell it. I think it wanders a bit, but every time I tried to get it on track, it just got more wandering. So, I have decided I am pleased with it, and to let it be. It's a bit of an attempt to nudge Abby Verse!Sherlock to be a bit more compliant with Series Three!Sherlock, and to contrast a little with 'The Voice in Counterpoint', which takes place at roughly the same time a year earlier.

Now that I have seen all of Series Three, I have decided just to go with the theory that 'John married Sarah and therefore Series Three didn't happen like that', rather than trying to work it in to what I have here. John's choice of partner would have a significant change on how events went down, so I am going with that. Some events probably still happened, but in a different way, and I'm going to carry on with my plans for this verse, as they still work.

All a recipe to not make him feel very well. )

Title: Gather Near to us, Once More
Characters: Erm, basically everyone in the Abby verse except Mycroft (sorry, Mycroft)
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: very fluffy, but there is a brief appearance of a stroke victim (Lestrade's mum), and references to a family member in rehab. Neither feature very prominently.
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Molly/Alec, John/Sarah
Word Count 6,392
Summary: The annual Christmas Eve Baker Street celebrations (now slightly not at Baker Street), from the point of views of those attending.
Author's notes: Follows Brothers and Sisters and Sleepover. Set in the Abby 'verse.

I think there's seven different POVs in here, and I've tried to give everyone equal spotlight, but some people have dominated a little. All my Christmas stories these year seem to have themes of 'unconvential families FTW!', and I'm not sure if it's a comment on my typical fandom choices or my lack of creativity, but I'm running with it.

Finally, I've been forced to work on a rather old laptop of late instead of my regular computer, and it's a bit like working in someone else's kitchen, so apologies for any weirdness of formatting or whatever.

Title refers to a line from "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas": 'faithful friends who are dear to us/gather near to us once more'.

John had always liked Christmas Eve more than Christmas Day... )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Molly cameo)
Title: Sleepover
Characters: Molly, Abby, Alec, Sherlock, John, Sarah
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: largely fluff, but background and some discussion of a character in alcohol withdrawal, and the psychological effects of that, including mentions of a psych ward stay. Not too detailed, but still discussed.
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Molly/Alec, John/Sarah
Word Count 4,249
Summary: Molly and Alec take care of Abby Watson for the night.
Author's notes: Follows Brothers and Sisters. Set in the Abby 'verse.

Reed is Alec's godson. He's mentioned a couple of times in this story, but I couldn't find a way to put who he is in dialogue or narration without it sounding awkward.

It was all quite cozy. )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Sherlock shock)
Title: Brothers and Sisters
Characters: Mycroft, Sherlock, Abby, John
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: background and discussion of a character in alcohol withdrawal, and a passing reference to a past addiction, coarse language
Spoilers: Oblique ones for The Reichenbach Fall
Pairings: Background John/Sarah
Word Count 2,305
Summary: Mycroft pays a visit to Baker Street to do some consulting, and finds himself assisting in child-minding.
Author's notes: There have been a few people asking for Mycroft and Abby interaction, and I had several versions of this story, but this is the one that worked the best. It's a bit fluffy, as is my wont.

Set in the Abby 'verse. Abby herself is about two and a half, or a little older.

She's not shy, she just doesn't like you )

Title: One of Gramma's Spells
Characters: Harry Dresden, Bob, Fay, Mal, Mouse, Gramma Katie
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Word count:1,300
Summary: The Dresdens scare away a storm.
Author's notes: Written for the 'metal' prompt on my [livejournal.com profile] occhallenge table. Set in the mini!dresden's 'verse. Short, and written a bit fast in a fit of inspiration. Apologies for any rough patches.

No! I don't yike! )

Title: Cold Case Day
Characters: Sherlock, John, Sarah, Abby, Mrs Hudson, Molly, Lestrade, Gladstone
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 3, 674
Summary: Abby Watson turns two years old. Sherlock Holmes attends her birthday party.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'Verse.

This is one of those stories I'm not entirely sure has a point, but hopefully it is at least entertaining. Fluffy fluff. Apologies to Lestrade, I promise to find something more prominent to do in this verse at some point.

Didn't she just have a birthday? )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Sherlock shock)
Title: Pox
Characters: Mycroft, Sherlock, Q, Mummy, Father
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: none
Pairings: none
Word Count 2,557
Summary: Chickenpox strikes the two youngest Holmes brothers—just in time for Mycroft's school break.
Author's notes: Pure kid!fic, rather silly. Just wanted to have some fun with the little'ns and give Mycroft a chance to do something. He always seems to be very peripheral in my stories for this verse.

Set in the Trio 'verse.

Trevelyan is close to three and a half years old in this, making Sherlock somewhere around six, and Mycroft thirteen.

There is, quite randomly, rather massive spoilers for The Scarlet Pimpernel in this. You have been warned.

I was informed we were a plague house. I didn't realize it was fatal. )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Watson's cute nose)
Title: Perfect
Characters: John, Sarah, Sherlock, Abby
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: non-descriptive birth scene, a brief mention of a case (double homicide/suicide)
Spoilers: none
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 2, 187
Summary: Abigael Watson makes her way into the world and her first visitor is the last person anyone would have expected.
Author's notes: Set in the Abby 'Verse.

Fluffy fluff.

It was perhaps the first thing he'd said in several hours that hadn't ended in an exclamation mark. )
awanderingbard: (Dresden: Harry magicking)
Title: Spring Cleaning
Characters: Harry, Fay, Mal, Murphy, Bob and daemons
Rating: PG
Warnings: a bit of angst
Word count: 1,795
Summary: Spring comes after a long winter for the Dresden clan, and Harry and Murphy do a little clearing of the air.
Author's notes: Written for the 'spring' prompt on my [livejournal.com profile] occhallenge table. Set in the mini!dresden's 'verse, pre-series, about four months after "Running Water".

AUs of AUs for the win! I figured while I was doing my Sherlock daemons, I might as well do my Dresden characters as well. Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

For reference: Taika (a Newfoundland), Jarek (a white lion), and Arsinoë (a rook). Mentioned, but not in the story: Liron (a Malabar Whistling Thrush), and Dahi (a dik-dik).

After some debate, I've decided to let Bob keep his daemon in the afterlife. I think it would be more of a punishment to have your soul and be aware of what wrong-doing you did.

Fay is about three years old, and Mal is about 10 months old.

It had been a bleak winter, both literally and figuratively. )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Sherlock cameo)
Title: The Voice in Counterpoint
Characters: Sherlock, John, Abby, Sarah, Gladstone
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: brief swearing
Spoilers: Uses a character introduced in Christmas Future.
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 2,897
Summary: A case is interrupted by John's family, and Sherlock doesn't mind as much as he thought he would.
Author's notes: Someone over at ff.net very nicely requested Sherlock's POV on being part of John's family. It has taken me four attempts, but I think I have it now. One day I won't have to write eight thousand words before I find the ones I need.

Set in the same 'verse as Otitis Media and Christmas Future. Set after the latter, by a few weeks.

Fluff.

I'm not a child! )
awanderingbard: (SHERLOCK: Sherlock shock)
Title: Otitis Media
Characters: Sherlock, John, Abby, Sarah, Gladstone
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: Uses a character introduced in Christmas Future. It's set before that, though.
Pairings: John/Sarah
Word Count 3,252
Summary: John pays a late night visit to Baker Street with a very sick child. Disrupted experiments, hair-drying, and unscientific remedies ensue.
Author's notes: There is a very nice person on ff.net who enthusiastically asks for follow-ups and sequels to my stories, and this time I thought I could handle her request. However, about halfway through, I realized I had completely failed to write what I set out to write. So, I turned it into a sort of practice go at Sherlock and Sarah's narration voices. Whatever the writing equivalent of a doodle on a napkin is, this is probably that. I hope it's entertaining, anyway.

I know 'Gladstone' is the name made-up by the Ritchie!films, but I've borrowed it for this version of John and Sherlock's dog. Because it's a perfect name.

Also, I've finally given in and made myself a 'kid!fic' tag. It's best just to accept your lot in life, I think.

You smell like the A&E. )
awanderingbard: (Dresden: Harry magicking)
Title: The Wrath of Cinderella
Characters: Harry, Anna, Fay, Mal
Rating: G
Spoilers: None
Word count: 896
Summary: Glass slippers make good weapons.
Author's notes: A little bit of Hallowe'en fluff, written for the 'glass' prompt on my [livejournal.com profile] occhallenge table. Happy Hallowe'en to those who celebrate!

I am not even kidding.. )
