awanderingbard: (Marvel: Tony Stark is awesome)
Title: Adjustment Period
Characters: Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, Maria Stark, Edwin Jarvis, Tony Stark
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: a great deal of frank discussion about birthing and uteruses and the bodily fluids that go with it
Spoilers: A few character beats from Agent Carter and Captain America
Pairings: Howard/Maria, references to Jarvis/Anna, implied Peggy/her husband
Word Count 7,147 words
Summary: Peggy Carter comes to visit the Stark Baby in the hospital, helps Howard and Maria get the hang of being new parents.
Author's notes: Mostly an exercise in trying to find Peggy's voice. I've never written from her POV, or even giving her very many lines before, so I hope she's okay.

I've made some deductions on Peggy's home life, based on background details from the Cap 2 movie. We know that she's married by 1953, and on her beside table in the hospital, there is a picture of a young Peggy with two children, a boy and a girl. I'm assuming those are hers. They might not be, but I'm running with it. Because we don't know the names of her husband or potential children, I've worked around that and I haven't gone into much detail about them in her internal monologue, as I would have if I had more information. Also, because she goes by 'Peggy Carter' in the Smithsonian video, I assume she continued to use her maiden name. I'm estimating her children would be somewhere between their late-teens and early twenties, but they might be younger.

Set in 1970. All the adults would be ~50 years old, give or take a few years in each case. Except for Maria, who is in her mid-thirties. I'm sorry this is 7000 words long. I don't now how that happened. I literally went 'huh?!' when I put it into the word counter.

All he said was 'tell Pegs she owes me a bottle of whisky'. )

Title: One Step Back
Characters: Tony, Demira, Bruce, Nemi, Pepper, Lev
Rating: R (mostly for swearing)
Warnings/Triggers: quite a bit of swearing, a panic attack, a bit of sexual humour, a touch of people feeling sad about themselves
Spoilers: Basic MCU verse ones
Pairings: Tony/Pepper
Word Count 6,642
Summary: A unexpected visit from The Other Guy puts a dent in Operation Friendship, but Tony and Mim make sure it's not a as big a dent as Bruce and Nemi think.
Author's notes: Inspired by several random Science Bro Pinterest posts, which gave me ideas and then daemons got involved. Science Bro epic friendship fic ensued.

Set post IM3, pre Cap 2 and is a sequel to "Baby Steps".

For reference: Demira ("Mim") (a common tailorbird), Nemi (a qinling panda), and Lev (a veiled chameleon).

Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

I thought you might like some donuts. )

Title: A Delicate Operation
Characters: Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark, Tony Stark, Maria Stark
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: some crude language and humour
Spoilers: A few character details from the MCU, nothing too earth-shattering
Pairings: Howard/Maria, references to Jarvis/Anna
Word Count 5,847
Summary: Jarvis attempts to get the Stark Family out the door for a social engagement, after having making the critical error of stopping for tea.
Author's notes: No idea where this came from, I think I just wanted to mess around with some dynamics.

Set in 1984. Tony is about 14 years old here, Howard and Jarvis somewhere in their mid-sixties, and Maria around 50, maybe younger or older.

I've constructed Maria from what little we know about her in the MCU, and bits and pieces of various comic books incarnations, with a heavy dose of me Making Stuff Up thrown in.

The whole operation was in jeopardy thanks to the 2nd Earl Grey. )

Title: Crossed Wires (Part Two)
Characters: Tony, Howard, Jarvis, Stane, Maria, Peggy, dæmons
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, bullying, a child running away, assumptions of kidnap and worries related to it, family dysfunction/drama, implications of alcoholism, brief reference to the non-tragic death of a spouse
Spoilers: Basic ones for the structure and past of the Stark family as laid out in the Iron Man movies, and Captain America related media.
Pairings: Howard/Maria
Word Count 7,692
Summary: Tony runs away from school, leading Howard to realize just how out of touch he is with his son.
Author's notes: This is part two, part one is here.

Brief note, because I realize I never made this clear anywhere, Haddie's full name is 'Hendrina', but she doesn't get called that, ever. Except by Jarvis, at the end of this fic, which I realize is a bit out of nowhere, but he decided to do it and I said he could.

You never listen to me! )

Title: Crossed Wires (Part One)
Characters: Tony, Howard, Jarvis, Stane, Maria, Peggy, dæmons
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, bullying, a child running away, assumptions of kidnap and worries related to it, family dysfunction/drama, brief reference to the non-tragic death of a spouse
Spoilers: Basic ones for the structure and past of the Stark family as laid out in the Iron Man movies, and Captain America related media
Pairings: Howard/Maria
Word Count 6,177
Summary: Tony runs away from school, leading Howard to realize just how out of touch he is with his son.
Author's notes: As always seems to be the case, this stemmed from conversations with [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble, because she brings all the plot bunnies to my door, apparently. A big thanks to her for nattering with me and allowing me the borrowing of Dejeni and some of her headcanon.

This is a very long story, for which I apologize. I didn't worry too much about keeping the POV switches of equal length or number, and Jarvis decided he'd step in for a random part at the end, so apologies for the sort of odd narration style, too. I've split it into two parts, but both parts are still long.

It's set in 1978. Tony is 8 years-old, and Howard around 58 years-old, I'm guessing, and Jarvis probably around 60? The MCU dates are very flimsy.

For reference: Dejeni (A raccoon), Haddie, and Kinga (a maned wolf). Demira is unsettled, and so changes form several times, but her mentioned favourites are hummingbird, otter and platypus.

Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

This is part one, part two is here

I think you need a better plan. )

Title: Let Your Heart Be Light (Part Two)
Characters: Tony, Pepper, Bruce, Natasha, Clint, Steve, Sam, Thor, Jane, DUM-E, JARVIS
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: some angst, mostly fluff, swearing and innuendo
Spoilers: Basically all of the Marvel Phase II movies (except for Guardians of the Galaxy)
Pairings: Tony/Pepper, Thor/Jane
Word Count 4, 212
Summary: Tony plays host to a group of anti-social superheros at the First (Possibly Annual) Avengers Christmas Party.
Author's notes: This is one story, but had to be posted in two parts, due to length. It takes place post-Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and contains heavy spoilers for each.

This Part Two. Part One is here.

That was probably a little saccharine. )

Title: Reunion
Author: [livejournal.com profile] awanderingbard
Character(s)/pairings: Steve, Jaqueline Falsworth-Crichton, a slew of OCS
Fandom and/or Prompt: Captain America/MCU
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Warnings: generalized spoilers for the MCU, a bit of angst, a larger bit of a fluff
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, I just like to take them out to play.
Summary: Steve is invited to the 14th Annual Howling Commandos Family Reunion, which turns out to be a bit more overwhelming than he'd expected.
Author's Notes: Inspired by a post on tumblr quite a while back about the Howling Commandos being a big extended family and having reunions and such. I took a bit of comic book canon for Jacqueline, but mostly messed about with it to suit my purposes, including putting her in the generation after the one she canonically exists in.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo.

And now, Steve was awake to join in. )

Title: Put it on the List
Characters: Steve, Tony, JARVIS, dæmons
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: swearing, vague angst here and there
Spoilers: generalized for The Avengers, a few references to both Captain America movies
Pairings: very light reference to Tony/Pepper, implications of past Steve/Peggy
Word Count 5,609
Summary: Issie ensures Steve lightens up a little during a visit to Stark tower, and Steve gets some new things added to his To-Do List, and experiences some things that weren't even on it to start with.
Author's notes: Just some Steve and Tony hanging out fic, not a lot going on. I'm just working on my dynamics. Companion to and follows Baby Steps.

Set Pre-Cap 2, and probably post IM3 (it's next on my Things to Watch Now That Your Brain Isn't Sore).

For reference: Demira (A common tailorbird) and Issie (a Teddy Roosevelt terrier).

There are a few references to Howard Stark and Peggy Carter's dæmons, both of which were created by [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble. We sort of share joint custody of all the MCU dæmons, and she's graciously letting me borrow them. For reference: Takeo (a spotted hyena) and Dejeni (a raccoon).

Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

Title: A Worthy Heart
Characters: All the Avengers, Pepper, a dog
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/Triggers: non-descriptive but somewhat yucky injuries, swearing
Spoilers: none
Pairings: Tony/Pepper
Word Count 3,384
Summary: When Thor is injured in battle, he finds a friendly, furry face on the streets of New York. One with a very special gift.
Author's notes: [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble showed me this post on tumblr, and I insta-fluffed a story so fast in my head it was a bit silly.

And then I wrote it.

Very, very fluffy. Thor's worthy friend probably looks something like this. Sort of on the oldest side of puppyhood.

Tick-tick. Snuff. )
awanderingbard: (Marvel: Tony Stark is awesome)
Title: Baby Steps
Characters: Tony, Bruce, daemons
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: swearing and coarse language, a touch of angst on Bruce's side
Spoilers: generalized for The Avengers
Pairings: very light reference to Tony/Pepper
Word Count 2,750
Summary: Bruce and Nemi come to play at Stark Tower, and Tony and Mim make sure they feel welcome.
Author's notes: Finally something productive ('productive') comes from all my daemon headcanon. Just some Science Bros friendship fluff.

There is some ambiguity in the HDM verse about whether daemons speak to one another, and not just their humans. I'm exploiting the ambiguity and saying in this 'verse they do.

For reference: Demira (A common tailorbird) and Nemi (a qinling panda)

Takes place post-Avengers, and possibly pre-IM3, but since I haven't seen that yet, I can't be sure. Also, because I haven't seen it yet, or Cap 2, I apologize for any inadvertent conflicts with canon.

Stop being sensible, it's boring! )

Title: Modern Marvels
Characters: Tony, Steve, JARVIS
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: some references to unnamed, off-screen deaths
Spoilers: quick reference to an event in The Avengers
Pairings: none
Word Count 1,736
Summary: Tony and Steve have a late night chat, and Tony discovers that Steve's favourite modern marvel is something pretty simple.
Author's notes: [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble and I have been truly epic in our late night comment fests recently, and this story stems out of one of them.

I have seen neither Cap 2 nor IM3, so please accept my apologies for anything non-canon. I'm setting this post-Avengers film, but otherwise, I have no idea when it might be taking place.

I love it when you do the Fish out of Temporal Water thing. )

Title: Big in Heart
Characters: Steve Rogers, Ishild (daemon)
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: none
Spoilers: Generalized story spoilers for the first Captain America movie
Pairings: none
Word Count 215
Summary: People were always surprised by Captain America's daemon.
Author's notes: I was reminded that I wrote this last night, and realized I never cross-posted it. It was written for [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo last year. This is a daemons!verse fic.

Knowledge of His Dark Materials is not required. All that's necessary to know is that, in this world, humans' souls live outside of their bodies in the form of animals. There's an excellent primer here.

For reference: Ishild (A Teddy Roosevelt terrier).

Ishild was small. )

Title: Cracks in the Illusion
Characters: Frigga, Loki, Odin
Rating: PG
Warnings/Triggers: a bit sad, possible bad parenting
Pairings: Frigga/Odin
Spoilers: Loki's basic backstory
Word Count 2,095
Summary: A nightmare makes Loki revert to his true form, and Frigga tries to soothe him without cracking the illusion of his birth completely.
Author's notes: This is [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble's fault, a result of our random comment fests. She wondered whether Loki had ever reverted to his Jotun form once as a child, and I can't resist a good kid!fic prompt. I've also wanted to do something with Loki and Frigga's relationship, since I find it interesting.

First Thor fic. I'm still messing about with how Ye Olde the speech should be; I've tried to balance it to be formal, but not too Shakespearean. Loki would be the Asgardian equivalent of about 4-years old here.

The Marvel universe seems to not have an accent in 'Jotun', so I've gone with that spelling.

It got kind of sad. I'm sorry.

There was a Jotun under the bed; and not one of the ones Thor conjured in his mind when he was frightened. )

Title: All There In the Manual
Characters: Steve, Natasha
Rating: G
Warnings/Triggers: background sick children
Spoilers: Generalized movie spoilers for Cap and Natasha
Pairings: none
Word Count 936
Summary: It shouldn't be surprising to her how good Rogers is with kids. Of course he'd be. Of course he'd know how to talk to the smallest and the sickliest ones. He was the smallest and sickliest one, once upon a time. He can coerce even the saddest, most standoffish, most hollow-eyed children in the hospital to smile.
Author's notes: I've been having sudden and inexplicable Captain America feels. I... I don't know, people. I don't know.

A bit kid!ficcy, because it's me. Very fluffy, also because it's me. Short and written quickly, apologies for errors.

So, it shouldn't be surprising to her how good Rogers is with kids. )

Title: The God of Thunder Walks into a Bar...
Author: [livejournal.com profile] awanderingbard
Character(s): Kate Beckett, Richard Castle, Thor, Ryan, Esposito
Fandom: Castle/The Avengers crossover
Prompt: Avengers (Movie)/Castle; Castle, Beckett, any Avenger(s); Aliens! In New York!; (prompted by [livejournal.com profile] idontlikegravy)
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Warnings: The Avengers movie. None for Castle.
Summary: Castle and Beckett arrive at a crime scene and find a very unusual witness.
Notes: Moving some of my [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo stuff over here.

I've set this post-Avengers movie, loosely in a hypothetical future where the Avengers are known to the general public as superheroes, if not their true identities.

He's not a person! He's a superhero! )
