Thanks! My dad got a new hard drive today, with enough room for all the fanfiction in the whole world, plus an elephant and the cast of Lord of the Rings and possibly Australia. So, I think I'm good.
Fortunately there wasn't a lot on that drive that I was partial to. I've moved everything off of it now and it's still functional, but I didn't want to take any chances. The hard drive will be buried with honors for its years of service. It's my old C drive from my previous computer. It owes me nothing.
It has been safely moved. There wasn't too much of great import on there. My writing, my caps for art and such. It's the old C drive from my previous computer, so it's mostly obsolete files. The important thing is that no one got hurt.
I'm kind of picturing all the characters from my stories gathered on my computer desk like it's a fire drill and looking very confused at the situation.
That was pretty much my reaction when I had a hard drive crash.
Luckily the ex was able to recover the files and I bought myself a shiny new 1 terabyte usb drive to use as a back up, before plonking it all back on the drive in the computer. Which reminds me, I haven't done a back up for a couple of months (is easy, the ex wrote me a program to do it for me that is a lot simpler than anything else I've seen around - in my case, keeping on good terms with the ex has been a bonus).
