Give me a character that I write or have written and I will tell you either what they look like under Harry's Sight or what a soulgaze with them would be like. Specify which one you prefer, or I'll choose. Either way is fine with me.
For the uninitiated, both concepts come from Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. Sight or Third Eye shows people's true forms, usually in a metaphorical fashion and a soulgaze shows what that person's soul looks like, with their past, present and possible futures and innermost essences on view, unable to hide anything, usually only in a metaphorical fashion.
It doesn't need to be a supernatural character, but characters with some background and/or a decent amount of screentime are preferred so I can make some guesses as to what their essences are. Any of my OCS are welcome, too.

Date: 2012-08-24 09:34 pm (UTC)The lab is spotless and white, apart from one corner which is dirty and dimly lit. There are words carved raggedly into the bench and wall here, which read things like 'addict', 'freak', 'sociopath', 'heartless' and 'wrong!'. There are also case files here, well-looked through and worse for the wear. All of them have 'unsolved' written on them. Scattered around are syringes and white powder.
There are three exits from the lab. One has 'Mind Palace' stencilled on it. That door seems to lead to the beautiful, London perpetually-at-dusk that can be seen through the lab windows. Another exit has a pair of angel wings stencilled on it. If you look through the window, you can see 221b beyond it. The third door has a red skull stencilled on it. Where that one goes is unknown, as beyond it is utter darkness.

Date: 2012-08-24 11:13 pm (UTC)Farther down the corridor is 'Work', which is his office at the hospital. It smells like blood and antiseptic, but in a way suggesting this is a good thing. 'School' is nearby, which has his dorm room in it. It smells like teenage boys in a way suggesting this is NOT a good thing. 'Uni' leads to a lecture hall at King's College Hospital, which smells like chalk and textbooks.
There is a door marked 'Pub', which, unsurprisingly, both looks and smells like a pub. In a good way. It appears to be both in Chicago and London simultaneously, perhaps because the two places remind him of the other.
'Morgue' leads to Cook County's morgue. It's the only room with people in it and they are all patients he's lost. It smells like formaldehyde.
At the very end of a hallway is a door marked 'Magic'. It's pretty dark in there and gives off the sensation that it hasn't been entered often. It smells like scary things and the unknown.

Overlayed over all these images, very hard to see, is a reflection of Ray himself, or rather Stanley. He looks like Ray, but less sure of himself and nerdier and not as handsome.no subject

If you listen, you can hear the sound of explosions, gunfire, people screaming and crying, medical machines beeping and orders being given. Underneath, if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of soldiers laughing and joking with one another, people speaking in foreign languages with their tones indicating gratitude, and children playing in places that are safe now.
At the base of the post is a rucksack with badges sewn on it - the medical corp logo, various flags of countries he's been to, one that looks like the pattern to the wallpaper at 221b, a skull, a red cross, the London Underground logo and others. One of the pockets has a notebook and pen in it, and there's a laptop and jumper inside the main part. There is a gun sticking out of one pocket and a stethoscope in another.

Ah, I love that. Just goes to show that so few things are ever 100% darkness. There's hope all over the place, if it's just looked for.

Lovely. Thank you for writing this!

Date: 2012-08-25 01:57 pm (UTC)Under Haryr's Sight, Ivy looks to be made entirely of scraps of paper. There are words in all languages constantly being written and rewritten all over her, blindingly, sickeningly fast. Only her eyes remain human looking. They never blink and are bright, curious, and terrifying. Looking too long at her with the Sight would make a person crazy. There is just too much information constantly being updated that to permenantly remember everything you saw would take up too much room in your brain and it would overload.
