Quick Canon Question

Does any know or have an opinion on what Anderson from Sherlock's profession is? Is he an ME or SOCO? Does he do forensics? The implication in ASiP is that he was doing what John does for Sherlock at some point before John ('Anderson won't work with me' and 'I need an assistant'), so would he be the person to examine the corpse and find cause and time of death at the scene? Or is he an overall forensic investigator?

Thoughts, questions, concerns?

Ages back when I wrote a story where John became Borough Forensic Manager I decided Anderson was a Crime Scene Examiner.
