Ask me for any character I write or have written (OCs included) and I will tell you, if they existed in the Harry Potter universe:

1. Sorting Hat: what house would they be sorted into?
2. Expecto Patronum: what form would their patronus take?
3. Riddikulus:: what form would their boggart (read: their deepest fear) take?
4. The Mirror of Erised: what would it show of their heart's desires when they looked in it?

Oh man! I actually don't know anything about the Harry Potter universe, shockingly, but, er, Bob from the TV!Dresden Files? Or Harry? :)

Wow, that's a pretty impressive feat! :-) Let me know if you need anything explained!

Bob
1. I think Bob is relatively ambitious, in that he wanted to be the best and do things no one else can do, and he's certainly cunning and resourceful, so think I'll put him in Slytherin. But Ravenclaw would be a very close second.
2. Peacock, which in medival heraldry meant beauty, power, knowledge and resurrection, which are representative of Winnifred. Patronuses often take a form representing a lover.
3. Winnifred with an arrow through her heart, telling him he's failed.
4. Himself, free from his skull, having atoned for his crimes.

Harry
1. Gryffindor. Stupidly brave is pretty much his MO.
2. A sort of shaggy, unkempt St. Bernard.
3. Himself, if he ever became a dark wizard.
4. A really nice, comfy couch, with a good book and no trouble heading his way. He's a simple man.

I know!!! I have the first HP book sitting dejectedly on a bookshelf, but I'm honestly afraid of diving into such a big fandom at this point. In any case, I can mostly pretty much figure out what I'm looking at here through conjecture, so I think I'm okay.

And hee! Your answers are really cool. I'm just picturing a peacock!Bob screaming as he chases around St. Bernard!Harry, demanding Harry's stupid human-to-animal transformation spell be reversed immediately!! For Bob cannot live covered in feathers! HE'S ALLERGIC, FOR GOD'S SAKE. AND IT ITCHES!

And wow, the boggarts are striking. Well chosen, you. :)

They are really quite wonderful if you give them a chance, but I'm totally respectful of your choices. That fandom is scary, and aside from some RPing back in the day, I haven't ventured into it at all.

Patronuses are protection spells cast to scare away dementors, which are sort of like... I'm trying to think... Well, they make you think of the worst memory you've ever had and you relive it until you're paralyzed. They also suck out your soul through your mouth, in extreme cases.. So you cast a patronus, by thinking of your best memory and it takes the form an animal, and the animal chases away the dementors. I'm not sure if you knew that, but it's most obscure thing there.

I can so picture Harry getting himself into trouble by casting a transformation spell he can't undo. I kind of picture half of Harry's life is him sitting bewildered, wondering what the hell just happened.

Oh, I believe it! Oddly, that's part of the reason I'm so hesitant to read them. I'm worried about losing lots of time to them, when I already have fandoms that do the same thing. ^_^'

And ah, I figured I was aiming off the mark with my little scenario there. Wow, dementors sound terrifying, yikes. And oh my goodness, this is making me wonder if Harry as a child has some wonderful memory involving a little St. Bernard puppy. Maybe it was something Harry encountered when he and his dad were living on the road during simpler times, before everything went wrong. Arg, this is making me emotional. *sniffs*

I kind of picture half of Harry's life is him sitting bewildered, wondering what the hell just happened.

It is an apt comparison! I love Harry and his occasional bewilderment. ^_^

Aww! I like that scenario! Patronuses are supposed to take a form of an animal that represents you or is significant to you, so that works! Lots of times lovers have the same patronus in male and female form, to reflect the other person. So Winnifired probably had a peahen patronus. They can change over time to represent new experiences in your life.

Aw, I'm glad! I miss writing Dresden Files stories. It's a world I still love tremendously, so I enjoy opportunities to make up scenarios for the characters -- even crack!fic scenarios -- when I can. Playing with words for DF characters in comments is not something I get to do enough, sadly.

And wow, the idea of Winifred with a little peahen patronus is absolutely adorable, awwww! ^_^

Aaaah, I want to ask about the whole Sherlock universe for you, but I'll limit myself to Sherlock (or John or Mycroft, if you prefer)! Thank you!

I don't mind, it's an easy meme! Ask for whomever you want!

Sherlock
1. My friend and I were fighting about this the other day, but I don't think Sherlock has the ambition for Slytherin. I think he'd be happy with his books and science experiments, so I'd put him in Ravenclaw. But I think the Sorting Hat might have trouble, and Sherlock would sort himself. He wouldn't want to be in the same house as Mycroft, so he'd sort himself into Ravenclaw, after informing the Hat that it was stupid not to realize sooner.
2. Cassowary, because they look like they're wearing deerstalkers, and they're all legs and they look grumpy.
3. A big pile of case files all marked 'UNSOLVED' and WRONG.
4. Himself, at the Baker Street kitchen table, with all the cases, endless cases with no boredom in between, John somewhere in the background being quiet and admiring, Mrs Hudson's tea, and no Mycroft.

John
1. Gryffindor. Forever.
2. Honey badger, small but fierce.
3. Dead soldiers who he can't save. Post-Fall: dead Sherlock he can't save.
4. Himself, with no scars or damage. Post-Fall: Sherlock yelling at him to hurry up for a case.

Mycroft
1. Slytherin. Cunning, resourceful and ambitious pretty much covers it.
2. A fox.
3. The Queen yelling at him for some failure.
4. Sir Mycroft Holmes. Perhaps Lord.

Awww, cassowaries are really cute, in a disgruntled kind of way. Cute! And poor John post-Fall with his Erised of having Sherlock return.

Okay, then, how about Lestrade, Molly, and Abby-verse Sarah?

Thank you! :)

Lestrade
1. Hufflepuff, something he's slightly embarrassed about. But he's brave, just not stupidly brave. And he's very loyal, and patient.
2. Bulldog. Because of his tenacity.
3. A locked door. He's claustrophobic, it represents the fear of being closed in and unable to get out.
4. Retirement. Once with his wife, now just with his sisters and their kids around to spend time with.

Molly
1. Huffplepuff. The Hat was barely on her head before it announced it.
2. Prairie vole. Small and cute and loving.
3. Herself in a cold chamber drawer. She has nightmares about being put in one while she's still alive. Part of the job.
4. A certain consulting detective telling her she's amazing--while cuddling a cat.

Sarah
1. Gryffindor. She goes in head first.
2. Albatross. She used to have a gazelle, but both hers and John's changed to albatrosses when they moved in together. They both blame the other for the change.
3. Abby crying over a mobile phone, so that she doesn't know where she is to get to her.
4. Her and John old and grey on a couch reading the newspaper, with pictures of a healthy grown up Abby on the walls behind.

Thanks so much. Molly's are my favorites. Her Boggart especially...*shivers*

Thanks! Molly's so cheerful, I think it's easy to forget her job is pretty grim sometimes. I can see where the dark!Molly interpretations come from, but I prefer happy Molly, myself.
