Shippy Meme

Taken from tumblr, two memes combined.
This is technically supposed to be a 'tell me a ship and I'll tell you' meme, but while I have more couples than I thought, I still didn't think I shipped enough to make it worth it. So I'm using it as a character building exercise.

Alec and Molly
big spoon/little spoon: Alec is big spoon, but Molly is a restless sleeper while he never moves all night. So they normally wake up with Molly nowhere near where they started, and Alec appearing as though he's desperately trying to hang on to her somehow.
favorite non-sexual activity: Watching telly on the couch
what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: Molly likes period dramas (Downton Abbey is must see TV) and Glee, and old crime dramas. Alec likes sitcoms and Doctor Who, and old crime dramas. He likes horror films too, but Molly doesn't, so he has to watch them on the sly.
who uses all the hot water: Alec. He likes long showers.
most trivial thing they fight over: Alec leaving his shoes where Molly trips over them.
who cooks normally?: Whoever is home first. Alec does most of the cooking, but Molly cooks when he's late or as a treat. They just don't cook together.
who kissed who first?: Alec kissed Molly. She was on a stair above him, so opportune height for it.
who does most of the cleaning: Alec goes on sprees. Molly cleans as she goes. Between them, they're pretty neat.
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Alec, Molly's too nice to bother anyone.
who remembers anniversaries: Molly remembers the anniversary of everything, Alec remembers the big ones.
John and Sarah
big spoon/little spoon: John is big spoon, and very serious about it. He holds on to Sarah very protectively, to the point that she finds it very hard to extract herself in the morning if she's awake first. He's also been known to throw himself on top of her when he has nightmares, unconciously trying to shield her from 'bombs'.
favorite non-sexual activity: Reading the newspapers in the morning or at night, while Abby's asleep.
what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: Sarah has full control over the dvr and movies, as she's more often on her own to watch things. She likes really sappy romantic comedies, old black and white films, and Strictly Come Dancing. John watches whatever she's watching. They snark all the way through.
who uses all the hot water: Sarah uses baths as the cure to all evils.
most trivial thing they fight over: John puts mugs in the cupboard with the handles facing to the left, Sarah puts them to the right. This is inexplicably annoying to the other person.
who cooks normally?: Pretty even between the two. John has a more flexible schedule, so more often does dinner if he's home, but Sarah usually does breakfast, and there is a lot of take away.
who kissed who first?: Sarah kissed John, after he wasn't getting the hints. He was being too much of a gentleman.
who does most of the cleaning: Sarah. After so many years with Sherlock, John gave up on the notion that anything could ever be truly clean, so he doesn't notice mess anymore. He helps if directed, though.
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Whoever is home at the time it breaks.
who remembers anniversaries: They both do, but neither put much emphasis on it.
Siger and Metrodora
big spoon/little spoon: There is no spoon. Shortly after they started spend the night together, Dora realized Siger essentially spent most of the night watching her sleep. She told him this was creepy, and to get up and do something if he couldn't sleep. He was very relieved. Between his insomnia, and working in Glouster all week, Dora was alone most of the time. The closest they ever came to spooning was Siger reading in bed, and Dora asleep nearby.
favorite non-sexual activity: Travelling. More Dora's than Siger's, but he was content to follow after her.
what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: Neither were invented at the time, and neither partner were much movie or telly watchers. Siger liked movies about boats. Dora likes intelligent thrillers. Otherwise, just the news, and maybe University Challenge.
who uses all the hot water: The preening comes from the Holmes side of the family. Siger liked to be clean.
most trivial thing they fight over: Utilitarian vs Kantian philosophy.
who cooks normally?: Dora. Siger only ate when he remembered to.
who kissed who first?: Dora kissed Siger. He was taking far too long.
who does most of the cleaning: Siger was more prone to keeping things neat. Dora's projects tend to get out of hand. But they had a maid come in. Three Holmes boys and a big house meant they'd be cleaning all day otherwise.
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Dora. Siger if things needed to be done quickly or better.
who remembers anniversaries: Siger usually remembered when he saw what day it was in the morning's papers, and waited to be told by Dora how they were celebrating.

Date: 2013-09-17 02:13 am (UTC)This made me grin rather hard. I love these two so much!
The preening comes from the Holmes side of the family. Siger liked to be clean.
Nod to canon FTW!

Date: 2013-09-17 02:40 am (UTC)Yay! I'm glad. I'm writing more, but it's sort of getting epic and I'm trying to find Alec's narration voice. He's a bit poetic, apparently.
Nod to canon FTW!
Siger would definitely find a way to shave on the moor.

I can totally see this! He said he was trying to "get off with her," but then he slept on her couch!
I can also imagine that John has given up cleaning and doesn't even notice things are bad, because I'm sure bad for Sarah doesn't come anywhere near what John had to endure at 221b.
Utilitarian vs Kantian philosophy
I just read that an argument over Kant caused a shooting in Russia, so be careful what you deem "trivial"!

Oh man, I know it's serious but I lolled. Especially since one of Kant's main theories is that everyone has the right to live va Bentham's theory that some people may need to be sacrificed for the greater good, (the greater good, the greater good) . My brother and I debated this at a movie theatre once, before the film started, but it did not end in bloodshed.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Alec, Molly's too nice to bother anyone.
most trivial thing they fight over: John puts mugs in the cupboard with the handles facing to the left, Sarah puts them to the right. This is inexplicably annoying to the other person.
The last one made me wonder: Did Sherlock place the mugs with the handles facing the same way as John? :)
