S3 of Sherlock will begin airing in the US on January 19th, 2014, according to PBS and Sherlockology. No airdates have been announced for the UK yet.

Yes, that was my exact reaction. I suppose I will have to get all my AUs out of my system by then. At least I have a deadline, now. :-)

Yeah, me too! I think they said when Series Two came out that they were going to do their best to close the gap between the UK airing and the US one. I think most people had seen it before it aired in the US.

Heck, I bought the DVDs from amazon.co.uk and watched s2 at the end of January or the start of February, with months to go until PBS showed them!

You're lucky to have the DVD player that plays multi-regions. I tried to do that once and it got all jerky and impossible to watch.

We bought a cheap DVD player advertised as multi-region—and then had to hack it anyway, but a friend helped. So now we can watch R2 DVDs.

Yeah, I did the same, but it dropped every fifth frame or so and made it all jerky. That was about ten years ago now, though. Technology might have improved since then.

Oh, yeah! Ours is as smooth on R2 as R1; I hardly ever see jerks or skips.
