Character Questions Meme
1. Go here to generate 10 random numbers between 1 and 100.

2. Choose a character that I write or have written, be it a canon person, an OC or whatever. Feel free to pick a character that was used last time, as the questions will most likely be different this time around.

You had a couple repeats, so I switched to the nearest unanswered questions. Which, oddly, we both about evilness... Also, it's too long for one comment, so another coming shortly. Alec decided to answer very thoughtfully.

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?

Good Lord, only one? I think life is a series of important events. I can think of several that would be considered turning points. I'll go with the most recent one: meeting Molly. I had been on my own for a long time before I met her, and I thought I would probably stay that way. Meeting her was the most hopeful I'd felt towards love in a very long time.

Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)

My parents are Neil Thornton, who is a chef, and Victoria Chambers, who is a fashion designer. Their marriage was a bit necessitated by my being on the way, and they were very young, and I think they realized it might not have been the best way to do things. They divorced when I was two, and I stayed with Dad. Mum travels around the world now, and I don't think she was cut out to be the sort of mum who stays home. She loves me, but she's never remarried and never had other children. I think she likes to be no strings attached. My Dad did a great job raising me, even when money was tight. I never felt neglected. We get along really well, still, and I admired him a lot.

I also have Gianna, who is my step-mum. I was six when Dad met her, and I've always called her 'Gigi'. She manages the restaurant. She's quite Italian, and very maternal, and I've always felt very much loved by her. She had two daughters from a previous marriage, which was rather alarming to me when they moved in with all their girl things.

What is your greatest fear?

Not making a difference in the world. My existence not mattering much. I enjoy teaching because I feel as though I'm shaping the future a bit. I'd hate to finish my career and realize I never accomplished anything.

What does your voice sound like?

It's always hard to tell what your voice sounds like, isn't it? It sounds different outside of your head. I've been told it's very soothing, and the kids at school really like it when I read to them. I think I'm the posh side of accents, and I know I sound like my dad, because everyone mistakes me for him on the phone.

If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?

I spent a good portion of my twenties in a relationship which ended up going very badly. I'm not if I believe in changing the past; I think everything happens to guide you onto the next thing, but if I could have got out of that with my heart more intact, I might choose to do it.

What are your religious views?

I wouldn't say I'm very religious, but I do believe in God, and I did go to church fairly regularly for a lot of my youth. I do the 'Christmas and Easter' thing, now. I pray sometimes, because I find it comforting, but whether or not it does anything, I'm not sure. I'd rather be quiet about it and do my own thing than be told what I need or should do. I have to teach RE at school at part of the curriculum, so my knowledge of Moses in Egypt is pretty solid.

What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?

I love to cook. When money was tight, Dad always stretched things by coming up with really insane recipes that always tasted good, just using what we had lying around. I like the challenge of making a bunch of bits into something good. I find it very soothing, because it's repetitive. It helps me get my thoughts together. I also watch a lot of telly and films with Molly, and I like to read. I like spending time with my godson, as well. I often take him on Sundays, when his dads need a break.

What is the most evil thing you have ever done?

Oh, God! Erm...evil is a strong word. I'd like to think I'd never done anything evil. The most malicious thing I've done is break my little sister's talking doll, and really, I still think that was for the good of the household.

Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?

I don't have any children yet, but I'd like to. I'm engaged, so I'm hoping that will happen within in the next few years. Molly will be great mum. I love kids, and I'd love to have my own. I see a lot of kids passing through my classroom, and I won't probably know what will become of them. I'd love to know and raise a child into an adult. I've been broody for ages, to be honest.

Do you have a criminal record of any kind?

No. I almost got an ASBO for loitering once, but the police officer believed me when I explained, truthfully, that I was lost and trying to figure out how to get where I wanted to go, and not just standing around for the fun of it.

Ahaha! Girl things!

I think my favorite quirk of Alec's is that he's really terrible with directions. The bulk of my family members couldn't find their way out of a paper bag if given a compass, map, and a string attaching them to the outside so it makes me grin to read about it.

Alec: They had hair bows and dolls and shampoo. It was awful. On the bright side, everything smelled much better.

I think my favorite quirk of Alec's is that he's really terrible with directions.

It's funny, because that's leftover of a first draft of the original story, which was him meeting Molly by trying to visit a niece in hospital and getting lost and winding up at the mortuary. I scratched it because Barts doesn't have inpatients except for cancer treatments and that seemed not particularly good for a romantic encounter. But I kept the bad at directions thing in, because he needed more flaws, and that was at least one.
