It has been officially been confirmed that, contrary to previously thought, there will be another series of (Inspector) Lewis. There are spoilers for the premise in that article, as a warning. Nothing too earth shattering, but some character stuff.

I'm not sure what convinced them to change their minds, as they ended last series seemingly wrapping up everything. I'm glad they have, though, as I rather enjoy my Hathaway and Lewis snark.

It looks like a long wait before we'll get it here, but I am pleased, nonetheless.

While I'm happy there will be more Lewis, I'm also sad in a way, because the ending was so perfect for Lewis and as a nod to Inspector Morse.

I have to confess to never have being able to get into Morse, though I enjoyed the novel I read. I did read that the ending of Lewis was a nod to the ending of Morse, though. I'm wondering if they're setting up Hathaway for his own spin off.

I saw most of them, years ago though. One of the last scenes between Morse and Lewis is them sitting at a table outside a pub, drinking, looking at the sunset, just like Lewis and Hathaway did.

If they were setting up a spin off, I'd have thought they'd do a one shot- one two hour special kind of thing would work well for that, not the 6 episodes they are apparently doing. Not that I'm upset we're getting more though :)

I remember that it seems odd to introduce the new DS in one of the episodes last series, when it was going to be its last. I wonder if they'll pick up that thread, and give him to Hathaway as a DS, and let him be the new ingenue.

Oh, you mean the guy who filled in when Hathaway was on vacation? DC Gray I think? I liked him a lot and the subtle way they brought up that Lewis had helped him when he was a kid.

Yes, that's him. I couldn't remember his name, just that he was played by Babu Seesay, which I only remember because that is an awesome name.

I couldn't see the point in nearly having Hathaway entirely out of the episode when it was one of the few he had left. I know it ended up being a plot point, but it just felt as though they were setting Gray up for something,

Unfortunately it was something much simpler- it was a scheduling problem with the actors- Lawrence Fox had some issue, I don't remember why.

Ah! I think he might have had a baby around that time. Or Billie did, rather. I wonder if he was being parental. Or maybe he was filming W.E.

At least they wrote him out in a way that worked and I loved the way they wrote Gray in and the little niggle of the backstory for him. I do hope they bring Gray in somehow for the new season.

Yes, they were clever about how they did it. I liked that there was a bit of a callback to the Pilot, where the young man was someone that Morse had known. Although, not as much of a happy ending in that case.

Whoa! Not sure how I feel about this yet. The ending was really satisfying for me so I kind of don't want them to potentially mess it up later. But obviously I'll be tuning in.

I'm just glad to get more, to be honest. That was part of a glut of shows that were cancelled, and I'm happy to see one of them rise from the dead,

Plus, I randomly dreamt about it the other night, and now it's back. Seems a good omen.
