Asgardian Maths

I have a possible Thor fic bunny, but I have a question about how Asgardians age. Probably not definitively answerable, but any opinions would be appreciated.



So, Loki states that Asgardians have about 5000 years of life. Cool beans. Except, do they age as the same rate as us? Because, and my math is terrible, so bear with, if say, we live on average 75 years for example, and they live on average 5000 years, that would mean for each 1 year we live they live 66ish. So, by that formula, are Asgardians then, say, mentally and physically two years old for 66 years? And mentally and physically 15 years old for 66 years? Do they wear diapers for 198 years? Or do they sort of age normally until they hit their twenties and then it super slows down?

Because that is a fuckton of diapers...

Incidentally, I also have this question about the elves in LOTR.

When there's that sort of thing I always assume that birth-toddler years are similar to ours then either they continue to age as we do until puberty or at a slightly slower rate but then once they hit 20s time begins to slow. So aging their equivalent for 10-15 =/= 20-25, but then once they hit closer to middle aged it really slows down so each year after 35 might be like 10 of our years but then after 40 it's 20 of our years and at 45 it's 30 years per year, etc.....

I like this idea! Yes, that works very nicely. It also sort of goes along with the idea that at the equivalent of twenty or thirty, you're still a 'child' to someone who's the equivalent of 40 or 50, even more so than on Earth. Like, dude, you're a hundred, talk to me when you've got a couple thousand years on you.
