Pick an actor or actress you like and answer these questions. All questions are in reference to their work, not personal life.

I've done Tom Hiddleston. We are not surprised about this, are we?

What works of theirs have you seen?
Miss Austen Regrets
Thor
Thor: The Dark World
Return to Cranford/The Cranford Christmas Special
Deep Blue Sea
The Avengers
The Pirate Fairy (voice)
Wallander (one episode)
Midnight in Paris
Bits and pieces of his stage work
I also have The Hollow Crown on the DVR, but it remains unwatched for now. Because it's loooong.

Their best work?

I know Thor is what made him, but I adore him in Cranford. His William Buxton is so unbelievably sweet and kind, and passionate and adorable. He's a fluffy haired ball of romantic indignance, and I love him.

Their worst work?

The Pirate Fairy is barely worth the price of admission. I know it was a bit of a dream of his to do a Disney voice, but...yeah. It's entertaining, and he's enthusiastic, but...it's not the best thing I've ever seen.

Their special skill?

Tom is able to make what should be unlikeable characters very likeable, or at least understandable. He has a real passion for the characters he plays, and so is able to find the things in them that make them human and fallable and sympathetic. Even if you don't agree with what the character is doing, you can see why they're the way they are.

Their weakness?

He can oversell it on occassion. Especially when a character is angry, he can use his face a little too much. There are moments when he goes for the YELLING!, when I think he could get by with just his eyes, to be honest.

Most noticeable feature?

The smile. Manic, evil, or sweet, it's memorable. His voice ain't bad either.

Their upcoming work you're looking forward to?

Nothing listed on his IMDB page is very interesting to me. I am interested in Crimson/Hautned Peak, because of it filming near me, but horror movies are far from my jam. I'm going to say I hope that he gets another turn as Loki. And I hope he gets to do that romantic comedy he'd like to do.

What role would you most like to see them in?

Sir Percy Blakeney in The Scarlet Pimpernel He's talked about wanting to do it, and I totally agree he'd be really, really good. I can see him being swashbuckling and adventurous, and romantic and hurt. I'm not sure about how well he'd play the fop, since I've never seen him do it, but I think he could pull it off. I would love to see a good, proper action-adventure adapation of it. Possibly with Benedict as Chauvelin. Or Michael Fassbender.

I also want to see him on Sherlock. Maybe as Victor Trevor. I just want him and Benedict to be in another thing together, because their friendship makes me happy.

Maybe he's another actor who needs some reassurance from the director that they can see them emoting, no big gestures necessary.

No, he's going to be Alec, Molly's future hus-oh wait, that's not canon...

I think he's more aware of that then other people I've seen. But I think he has a sort of 'angry mode' that he defaults to when he needs to yell. Hee, maybe he's just not used to yelling, and doesn't know what level to do it at.

I love and hate when people say things like that. Because on the one hand, I feel pleased that it seems canon, but on the other hand...I'm really sorry that it seems canon...

I'm amusing myself with TH having inner dialogue with himself while he's shouting going, "Is this the right volume? Sounds about right? Or is it not loud enough? How loud is shouting usually? Should I be experiencing vocal strain while doing it??"

If it makes you feel any better, if the show itself didn't take so damn long in between seasons, we wouldn't all be adopting various fanons as canons. I had to remind myself a few times that Q is not actually a Holmes brother when I sat down to view series 3.

Yes, this is exactly how I picture it going down. "Yes, I think I sound very scary and angry now! This seems appropriate!" and then apologizing to his co-star afterwards for yelling at them and assuring them he didn't mean it.

Yeah. And where they've left it now, I'm having a hard time coming up with canon stories to tell, because I don't know what happens with Moriarty or Mary and the baby, so my options are to assume everyone survives and then I have about a month in which to tell stories before the baby is due. January is turning into a very busy month for my characters. At least at the end of Series 2, we knew Sherlock would eventually come home.

I wasn't too bad with Q, I have to say. My only real moment was when Mycroft went to Serbia, and I thought of how much fun Q probably had getting him in there. The rest of the time, I was able to focus on the story.

HAHA, oh Tom. No.

so my options are to assume everyone survives

Funny how I thought almost the exact opposite. We balance each other out so well.

I thought I was going to make it until Mycroft casually mentioned a third brother toward the end of the third episode and I just threw up my hands.

I like to think that if we were in a cartoon, you'd be sitting quietly at a table drinking tea while I skipped around it singing songs about rainbows.

I couldn't tell if that was meant to poke at the Q theory, or to reference the scholarly theory of there having to be another brother to be at home minding the squire seat while Mycroft and Holmes were in London being badasses. I've see Tom fancast as the brother, though. I suppose I could dig that.

Don't forget that I'm probably sketching a little drawing of gravestones or something.

Knowing Moffat, it's the former.

So another actor who looks nothing like BC or Gatiss playing their brother?

While I sprinkle glitter on it.

Seems legit.

Apparently if you can rock black hair and have blue eyes, you too can be a Holmes.

Ahaha! Imagine us playing with a dollhouse. You'd be creating stories about a family having a lovely game night together while I interject with "And then there's a home invasion and they all get tied up and terrorized..."

HAHAHA!

"Mummy, Scribble is being morose again! Tell her to stop!"

"What? They all go to therapy in the end and are fine!...Until next time when the brother gets kidnapped..."

Okay, now we're my Q and your Sherlock, I think.

I enjoy writing little sociopathic Sherlock way more than his adult self. He'd totally start using the dollhouse to test where the best places are to start fires to insure maximum damage. You know...for science.

You know...for science.

This is what is on the Holmes Family crest. Only in Latin or French or something.

"Ad scientiam!"

From: [identity profile] joonscribble.livejournal.com
Is the crest itself a depiction of a Griffin licking someone off the ground while three owls look on in mild horror?

Oh man, the 14 year old me who had a heraldry phase so wants to make an appropriate Holmes family crest, now...

I just realized I wrote "lick someone" rather than "lick something" but either works actually.

OOh! I want to see the Holmes crest!

Lick something does make more sense. Though Sherlock licking people for science would be hilarious.

OOh! I want to see the Holmes crest!

No! This is when you're supposed to stop me from doing weird things. We really need a Lestrade.

Unlike Magnusson, Sherlock would probably only lick corpses for science. Because in his mind that's more respectful.

No! This is when you're supposed to stop me from doing weird things. We really need a Lestrade.

If not a Lestrade than maybe a Mycroft? No, a Mycroft would just shift the weirdness for their own dastardly gains.

Because Mummy always told him he had to at least ask permission first before licking anyone.

We could have a Molly to slap us!
